Dr. Listopad shares his thoughts on using Tek USA’s LED handpiece Illuminator series.
How did you first learn of the TEK USA Illuminator series and/or why did you decide to start using it?
One of my equipment representatives notified me of this product, as well as a current promotion that was going on. I decided to give it a try because I was getting frustrated with some of my other handpieces that were a lot more expensive. I figured that as long as there was a warranty and a money-back guarantee, I had nothing to lose.
Tell us a little about the results you have experienced with the TEK USA Illuminator series.
I have been very happy with how the product handles, as well as its cutting efficiency. The LED light is not as valuable to me because I use a headlight, but it is still a nice feature to have.

How have patients responded to the TEK USA Illuminator series?
Truthfully, patients don’t care about the handpieces. They cannot tell a difference. They just want a pain-free experience!
Why would you recommend the TEK USA Illuminator series to colleagues?
I am very happy with the way the handpieces run. I am especially happy about the cost savings that you get with this product. I have recommended it to many colleagues so far!
The Illuminator Series
The Illuminator Series incorporates an LED light into the handpiece head, powered by a generator contained within the handle. The pneumatically driven generator powers the LED directly. Air enters the rear of the handpiece through standard four-hole tubing at 32 to 35 psi, spinning the e-generator at 18,000 rpm and generating bountiful energy to power the LED, resulting in a bright white, low heat light. Cool under pressure, the turbine is made in the U.S. with the highest grade ceramic bearing available. The press-button chuck is fabricated from high grade materials that result in strong bur retention and ease of bur entry. The Illuminator LED Series has either a four-hole fixed back end or quick-connect, making it compatible with any dental unit.
