On May 10-11, I had the opportunity to attend Lab Day West, held in Anaheim, Cali. The weekend was a wonderful blur of sessions, booths and being mesmerized by various milling machines, but I managed to glean a few observations from the weekend. The 3Shape TRIOS 3D scanner is 100 times faster than conventional video cameras. A recent video released by 3Shape offers helpful tips and tricks to make scanning with the 3Shape TRIOS 3D scanner faster and easier, including important preparation steps and precise bite scan strategies. 

International dental company Amann Girrbach has announced an expansion of its operations in Brazil through a majority shareholding in its longstanding distribution partner Caltini, which has become Amann Girrbach Brazil.

Unlike traditional casting processes, which produce about 20 dental frames per day, the EOSINT M 270 direct-metal laser-sintering system (DMLS) creates up to 450 dental units per day using CAD data.

The Authorized Milling Partner program of Ivoclar Vivadent has been joined by Anthogyr and its Simeda CAD/CAM solution. Anthogyr is a CAD/CAM manufacturer in implant prosthetics and restorative dentistry. With this new partner, Ivoclar Vivadent has again expanded its partnership program with milling centres.

  An entirely new product line from Carestream Dental, CS Solutions includes CBCT impression scanning, an intraoral scanner, a milling machine, restoration design software, plus a convenient web-based platform that allows dentist and laboratories to share and manage restoration cases.
