Stratasys Ltd. recently announced the immediate availability of VeroDentPlus MED690 dental material for the Objet EdenV series of 3D Printers. Stratasys says VeroDentPlus MED690 enables the 3D printing of dental models that are highly accurate, economical to produce and offer the appearance of dental stone with fine details and resolution. The new material can be used in conjunction with all open intra-oral impression and plaster scanners and is optimized for printing models for crowns, bridges, orthodontic appliances and implants.

Stratasys Ltd., a leading manufacturer of 3D printers and production systems for prototyping and manufacturing, recently announced that ClearCorrect LLC, a leading manufacturer of clear aligners has significantly scaled up the number of Objet-line 3D Printing Systems it has onsite.

Model scanners, CAD software and milling equipment were once only found in the largest laboratories and milling centers. However, today they can be found in even one- to two-person laboratories. There is little doubt that technology is allowing laboratories to become more efficient, more productive and have more control and consistency in their work.

01. How did CADBlu first enter the dental market?

Designed specifically for dental labs, the 3Z™ LAB 3D wax printer is said to ease the transition to a total digital lab workflow by integrating with open architecture dental scanners and software while maintaining surface quality and precision. The printer features one-touch simplicity to easily produce wax-ups ready for casting and pressing with accurate marginal integrity, occlusion, contact and anatomy form. It will produce crowns, bridges and copings with exceptional margins for an optimal fit.  

A pair of recently released market analysis reports point to the steady growth of digital technologies in use in the dental space, with a projection that the global market for 3D printing will hit $3 billion by 2018 and the dental CAD/CAM market will reach $540 million by 2016.

Designed to enable dental labs to manufacture fixed and removable metal frameworks, the PXS dental system laser sintering  machine gets the job done cost effectively and efficiently. Using laser sintering technology to create non-precious copings and frameworks from metal powder, the system produces high quality finished products with a very high degree of accuracy while significantly reducing build time.

With high quality 3D printing more accessible than ever, digital model production makes a lot of sense, and Florida-based Sun Dental Labs is putting such a solution into action by combining 3D printing technology from 3D Systems with the digital scanning and design systems from 3Shape.

With a minimum thickness of 3 mm, the material is far from ready for use in fabricating dental restorations, but French 3D printing service Sculpteo recently added ceramics to the materials available from their production center. The 3D printed ceramic crown might still be a long way off, but this certainly seems like a step in that direction.

Giving the public a peak into the company's production process, ClearCorrect LLC, recently announced that 3D printers from Objet Ltd. are an integral part of the production of the company's clear orthodontic aligners.

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park in Boston, Objet Ltd., produced this massive replication of the Boston Red Sox's ballpark on an Objet Connex500 multi-material 3D printer.

The ProJet™ 6000 delivers production quantities of exceptionally detailed and accurate dental working models printed with VisiJet® e-Stone™, a new print material developed specifically to produce dental models. The material is available in a high contrast peach color to illustrate stunning dental anatomy.
