Applying new technologies: Solidscape's D66+ and D76+ wax printers The preXacto™ series of compact, benchtop 3D waxup printers are designed to allow small- and medium-sized labs to produce quality wax structures for pressing and casting with a short return on investment. The basic D66+ unit is capable of producing up to 750 units/month, while the larger D76+ model doubles production to 1,500 units/month.

It’s always a showstopper when there’s a demonstration of a 3D printing system taking place in the exhibit hall of a trade show. Watching digitally designed copings, frameworks, crowns or models rise up and take shape on the print platform can be almost mesmerizing. But these high-tech printers are more than just attractive novelties. With the ability to rapidly produce high-precision parts that fit a variety of production workflows quickly and cost effectively, a 3D printer can become a critical part of a dental lab’s CAD/CAM operation.

Glidewell Laboratories, a provider of dental laboratory services to North America, has announced its latest collaboration with Objet Geometries Ltd. (Rehovot, Israel), innovation leader of 3-Dimensional printing systems. Objet provided Glidewell with the ability to manufacturer custom printed models and other precision dental parts using Objet's Eden™ 3-D Printing Systems.

Once again my schedule in the Dental Lab Products newsroom prevented me from attending this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, but like many followers of all things high tech I eagerly followed news breaking from the show’s expansive exhibit halls.

Safco Dental Supply Company, located in Buffalo Grove, Ill., recently announced that it has become an authorized dealer of Pentron Clinical products. The partnership will broaden Safco’s portfolio of high-quality dental supplies giving customers even more product choices.
