Welcome to Product Bites, a weekly podcast from Dental Products Report, providing you with a rundown of recently launched an updated dental technologies, materials, instruments and everything else you might use with patients or while running your practice.

I'm your host for this week DPR, editorial director Noah Levine and on this week's podcast we've got new products from Orascoptic, Keystone Dental, Kerr, Nexa,3D, 3D Systems, Retainer Club, Dentsply Sirona, and Overjet. So let's not waste any time and get right to learning about these new industry innovations.

First up, Orascoptic recently announced the launch of the HDL Ergo 5.0x loops. They incorporate state of the art refractive prisms, and they're the highest magnification loops in Orascoptic's Ergo product line. These ergonomic loops are designed to enable clinicians to maintain an upright posture during procedures significantly reducing neck tilt and promoting better health designed to simplify procedures while enhancing aesthetics and consistency.

Keystone Dental's new GENESIS ACTIVE implant system was developed based on over a decade of research and development. The versatile system features various abutment options and a range of other innovative features. Notably the AnaTite pink anodization process of the coronal aspect of the implants mimics natural soft tissue, enhancing the mucogingival seal. The BioSparks surface treatment on the body of the implants promotes rapid osseointegration for immediate load protocols. With the Digital Guidance Sleeves, you can simplify implant placement, and the conical implant connection is designed to ensure a secure interface with high mechanical stability. The GENESIS ACTIVE implant system aims to provide a comprehensive solution for efficient and precise dental implant procedures.

ZenSeal bio-ceramic endodontic sealer from Kerr is a calcium silicate based material with optimal flowability, allowing it to adhere tightly to dentin and gutta-percha in both simple and complex root canal cases. Available in a convenient single syringe delivery system to minimize product waste per application, ZenSeal can be used on an average of 9 more teeth when compared to one of the leading sealers on the market, according to Kerr.

Nexa3D recently launched the x Cure Desktop UV curing system, which supports three different wavelengths and can reportedly reduce post processing time by as much as 80%. Encased in a rugged anodized metal enclosure for optimal durability, the xCure Desktop is designed to complete curing most parts in less than 10 minutes. The system operates with predefined curing workflows to create a seamless and efficient post processing solution.

3D Systems recently received FDA 510(k) clearance for its NextDent Base material. The third generation of the company's denture base materials, NextDent Base is optimized to offer a high break resistance along with precise printability. This durable and impact resistant material, available in four common gingiva shades, serves as an efficient and effective alternative to traditional denture base materials for full and partial dentures.

Retainer Club recently announced the launch of its new RC2 platform designed for DSOs, orthodontists, and individual practices. RC2 provides online retainer ordering and free home deliver,y a custom smile care plan incorporating post treatment support, analytics for actionable insights, revenue optimization, new patient marketing through digital advertising, and patient management and engagement to ensure awareness of treatment plans and updates.

Updates to Dentsply Sirona's DS Core cloud platform expands functionality and further strengthen the connection between dental professionals, labs, specialists, and other collaborators. Among the enhancements is the introduction of the Communication Canvas, which is designed to enable efficient and illustrative communication with patients. Its user interface allows clinicians to arrange patient images, such as x-rays, scans, and photos in a way that best illustrates the treatment plan. Additionally, DS Core viewer function now supports STL and PLY data formats, which makes the platform more compatible with third party intraoral scanners. Also, the new unified ordering system is designed to simplify communication between clinicians and dental labs.

Finally, this week, Overjet recently announced its received FDA 510(k) clearance for its Periapical radiolucency (PARL) Assist software. The new solution is designed to aid dentists by identifying and segmenting instances of radiolucency is on periapical radiographs for patients aged 12 and above. To develop PARL Assist, clinicians annotated tens of thousands of clinically validated instances of periapical radiolucencies across diverse clinical scenarios, which were used to train overjet algorithms. The reference standard testing set was meticulously created with multi consensus agreement by expert US licensed endodontists.

J. Morita recently introduced the TorqTech Ultra Mini, a new addition to their contra angle handpiece lineup designed to provide stability and durability in a compact form. With a short head height, the Ultra Mini ensures excellent visibility, making it perfect for patients with limited jaw mobility or children. Despite its size, this 1:5 contra angle offers exceptional cutting capacity and an extended lifespan. The Ultra Mini accommodates standard and short shank burrs up to 21 mm. Its advanced water spray provides consistent cooling, and it is compatible with both air and E-type electric motors. Additional benefits include the lightweight design, a durable chuck, and optimal illumination.

Ormco Digital Bonding is an innovative orthodontic technology designed to work in conjunction with Damon Ultima brackets and Spark Approver software. The solution aims to help clinicians achieved consistent bracket bonding and customized positioning with less effort. Digital workflows are now accessible for all patients, providing flexibility and new treatment options. Ormco Digital Bonding aims to make orthodontists' lives easier, offering more treatment options along with a streamlined workflow.

Presto Smile is a new mobile app that uses artificial intelligence to help clinicians show patients their potential post-treatment smile, enhancing chairside discussions and informed decision making. The user-friendly platform integrates seamlessly into dental practices and generates instant realistic smile mock ups through its AI algorithms. With its intuitive design, Presto Smile is easy to use. It's designed to enhance trust and increase patient acceptance of proposed treatments. This new app facilitates discussions enabling patients to actively participate in their dental care decisions.

Patterson Dental's Eaglesoft Version 22.00 practice management software offers new features to enhance performance, maintain security and ensure HIPAA compliance. New maintenance and optimization capabilities are designed to automate workflows, save staff time, and increase practice efficiency. CAESY Cloud integration aims to increase treatment acceptance while the built in PDF viewer simplifies document handling. Improved email integration with Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and Outlook 365 enhances communication. Finally, security updates in the utilities zone ensure data protection.

Finally this week, Sonendo, the developer behind GentleWave endodontic technology, recently debuted the second generation CleanFlow procedure instrument. This upgraded release boasts a redesigned matrix system for a secure and lasting seal, streamlining the root canal treatment process. The improved design allows clinicians to use a single instrument for all teeth enhancing treatment efficiency. Approved for use on anterior teeth, this innovation simplifies use of the GentleWave System, which provides effective disinfection and cleaning inside root canals, making procedures safer and more efficient.

I'm your host for this week, DPR editorial director Noah Levine and on this week's podcast we'll be covering RAPID ACCESSGUIDE from SICAT, PracticeTek's new Ora practice management solution, Angel Aligners from AngelAlign Technology, Buzzy from Pain Care Labs CandidPro's new mixed dentition support, and ProBiora Professional Strength in Orange from ProBiora Health. So let's jump right in and talk about these latest industry innovations.

Up first, we've got RAPID ACCESSGUIDE from SICAT. This is a new way to do endodontics with a 3D printed guide to make sure that you're going to follow the correct anatomy and really clean out everything in that canal. The system provides a printable endodontic guide file that's based on an AI completed design that can be ready in 20 minutes or less. This can be produced in-office if you've got a 3D printer, and the treatment planning ahead of that is using SICAT's endo software.

Ora from PracticeTek is a new practice management solution that's aimed at the DSO market. This solution is said to be built around using the data gathered from running multiple practices to provide actionable insights that the practices can use to improve efficiency in both clinical and business matters. It's a complete practice management solution with everything from scheduling to patient communications, patient charting, and even integrated customized payment plans.

ProBiora Health is adding orange as a new flavor for their professional strength oral probiotics. The new orange flavor is aimed at adult patients, and just like their original flavor for adults, it features 3 strains of naturally occurring oral bacteria that is said to be beneficial to oral health. According to ProBiora, these probiotics are said to help maintain the balance of your oral microbiome.

CandidPro's clear aligner platform now supports mixed dentition cases. This can be especially ideal for young patients who might require combination airway and aligner therapy. The new indications from CandidPro also include upgraded interproximal reduction support, expanding what this clear aligner platform can do and the number of patients that can be treated with CandidPro clear aligners.

AngelAlign Technology is entering the US market with their Angel Aligner brand of clear aligners. This brand has been around the globe after originating in China many years ago. Their clear aligners are designed to be used for a range of malocclusions and complex orthodontic cases. Their treatment planning software incorporates 3D CBCT data as well as intraoral scan data, and the aligners can be designed to feature attachments and buttons to allow for highly customized orthodontic treatments.

Now FDA-approved for use in dental injections, Buzzy from Pain Care Labs is a really cute pain care device that combines with an icepack to help reduce the pain of dental injections as well as other injections. The device is shaped like a bee and the whole system is designed to both reduce pain and help reduce the fear around dental injections which can prevent people from seeking treatment. The device works by using an M-stim technology that provides mechanical stimulation. Combined with the ice pack, it reduces pain and makes the injection process much less uncomfortable for your patients.

Kancld’s (Canceled’s) new software app is designed to automatically refill canceled appointments by texting your patients if they’d like to claim a newly open spot in the hopes of solving the issue of cancellations for dentists.

Kancld will work with your existing scheduling tools and practice management software to ensure ease of use and overall efficiency.

The Kancld platform messages patients one by one, giving each person a few minutes to respond. Using this method, Kancld has been generating a 73% rebooking rate for canceled appointments—including last-minute ones.

Text messages will be sent whenever no-shows become known with the goal of scheduling a patient immediately.

Practices can try it out at kancld.com. It only takes a few seconds to create an account. You’ll be up and running in under a minute, and the intuitive software is easy to use, according to the company.

Oral care product manufacturer, TheraBreath, has released its new Whitening Fresh Breath Oral Rinse.

The rinse is designed to fight stains in 3 different ways:

It attacks discoloration with solubilizers that loosen stains

The rinse contains natural enzymes that work with your saliva to dissolve stains

The rinse contains an oxidizer to whiten your teeth

Said to be powerful yet gentle, TheraBreath Whitening Rinse is designed to remove stains that other whitening products miss while also forming a protective barrier to prevent future discoloration.

It is formulated without harsh chemicals such as peroxide, which is commonly found in other whitening products and can cause tooth sensitivity and discomfort.

Roland DGA’s DGSHAPE has announced the launch of its new dry dental mill the DWX-53DC.

This new mill features an Automatic 6-Disc Changers that touts a 50% faster exchange and a 15-station Automatic Tool Changer.

The DWX-53DC features a new 4 mm tool, allowing for 30% faster roughing of PMMA than 3 mm tools.

The mill contains a camera that works with VPanel and DGSHAPE Cloud software, combining all of these features together to create a sleek, sturdy, and streamlined product, according to a press release from Roland DGA.

The DWX-53DC is designed with lab space in mind, making it suitable enough to fit in even limited spaces.

It uses a ball-screw system with 5-axis positioning, created to optimize machine performance.

It also features automatic machine calibration, automatic air pressure control, and a replaceable spindle.

Neoss Group’s new intraoral scanner, NeoScan 1000, was displayed during the company’s Neoss Integrate 2022 event in Zurich this week.

This easy-to-use, accurate, compact, and lightweight intraoral scanner provides a flexible workflow with open files, making the output easy to share amongst the dental team.

With an easy USB cable connection and full touch-screen support, the NeoScan 1000 is easily shared between operatories.

There is no need for another power supply.

Said to simplify digital impressions, the NeoScan’s handle is ergonomically designed.

Weighing just 198 grams, this scanner will not cause discomfort even when held for a long period of time.

The scanner achieves a 16 mm by 14 mm high-definition field-of-view.

Its true-color images make it easier for clinicians to distinguish tooth structure and soft tissues, so that margin lines and undercut areas can be easily identified.

With a motion-capture feature and buttons on the handpiece, clinicians can complete the entire process of scanning, optimizing, and exporting without touching the computer.

Dentsply Sirona's SmartLite Pro EndoActivator Endodontic Activation System

Dentsply Sirona has introduced the SmartLite Pro EndoActivator™, an equipment solution designed for intracanal activation of irrigating fluids used for cleaning and disinfecting root canals.

Designed for multi-directional movement, the SmartLite Pro uses elliptical motion and increased energy to achieve effective irrigation.

About 35% of canal surfaces are left untouched after shaping, yet the success of endodontic procedures depends on a clean canal, according to a press release from the company.

With the SmartLite Pro EndoActivator, Dentsply Sirona is giving clinicians an equipment solution that is easy to use and incorporate into their current root canal procedure workflow.

Activating irrigants can help produce a surface with more opened dentinal tubules, allowing for better obturation of canals, the press release read.

Following the SmartLite Pro protocol is said to provide a 38% increased cleaning efficacy over a sodium hypochlorite soak without activation, according to Dentsply Sirona.

SmartLite Pro EndoActivator tips are available in 3 sizes, including a new Medium Long tip.

These tips are designed to be flexible and are fabricated from non-cutting medical grade plastic, which can provide no ledging, transportation, enlargement, or shaping of the canal.

Housed in a new, sleek design, the Root ZX3 apex locator from J. Morita offers automatic calibration and features an overall smaller footprint, yet a larger, high-contrast display screen. The new offering is the latest generation of the company’s renowned apex locator product line with a high-frequency module for canal treatment. J. Morita’s trusted technology, based on impedance measurement, has been independently evaluated to be 97.5% accurate and can be used in wet or dry canals, the company states.As an optional attachment, the Root ZX3 HF Module offers a new approach for canal treatment utilizing high-frequency conduction (HFC). The module snaps easily onto the back of the apex locator and is well suited for a variety of procedures, such as gingival incision and excision, gingivoplasty, gingivectomy, hemostasis, and excision of intraoral lesions. It can also be used to aid in pulpectomies and for the ablation of pulp, dental filling material (such as gutta-percha), and tissue in/around root canals as an adjunct to root canal therapy, according to the manufacturer.
