In an effort to optimize the handling of their products, BEGO is introducing a new packaging concept for the BEGO Implant Systems product portfolio.
The first step in this optimization effort will be to replace the sales and secondary packing of non-sterile prosthetic items and the primary packaging of implants with a new removal system. Benefits said to arise from the new packaging and label design include easier identification and more precise stock keeping, plus the new blister packaging is shockproof and more robust. Also, BEGO expects customers will be met with easier handling and simpler removal of the implant system from the new packaging.
“Despite the huge logistic effort in changing the packaging of the entire product portfolio, it will not have any drawbacks for our customers”, said Dipl.-Ing André Henkel, Product Manager at BEGO Implant Systems. “However, it is possible that some items may reach the customers in the current sales packaging and others in the new form during the changeover phase.”
European customers can look for the new package very soon, but the complete changeover – for international customers in particular – may not occur until 2014 due to regulatory complexities.

The new packaging comes on the heels of BEGO’s announcement that it has formed an exclusive distribution partnership with Dentag Italia in order to expand the Bremen-based company’s presence in the Italian market. As of April 15th, Dentag Italia has been offering products like the BEGO Semandos® implant system to its users in Italy.
“The merger with our new partner Dentag Italia will enable us to expand our business activities in Italy and will lay the foundation for a nationwide expansion in this country”, said Oliver Klein, Director of International Sales & Business Development at BEGO Implant Systems. “Together with the experienced team at Dentag we hope to gain lasting expertise and possibilities of growth for the collective business.”
