Acteon North America has announced the debut of Expazen, the first-ever cord paste.

Expazen reportedly has all the advantages of a cord for gingival retraction and hemostasis, without the drawbacks such as damage to the epithelial attachment, patient discomfort, or the time it takes to actually place a cord.

The cord paste has the consistency of a cord, and can be placed right into the sulcus. It reportedly will last for up to 12 minutes. Expazen can then be removed with a probe or water syringe.
