Straight talk: How “rock star” dental hygienists use ultrasonics for success

You may think you've heard everything you need to hear about ultrasonics, but Rachel Wall, RDH, the owner of Inspired Hygiene, says that it’s always one of the hottest topics amongst dental hygienists and dental professionals.

“There’s still a need for education for the dentist and hygienist on things like how long a tip can be used,” Wall told Anastasia Turchetta, RDH, the editor of Modern Hygienist. “There are always so many questions that are asked about the tips. Remember, turning up the power doesn’t always make your tip more effective.”

“I really believe the ultrasonic can be a hygienist’s best friend,” Wall said. “It’s about saving time and can also save your body. You have to be prepared for every patient and create a systematic approach with your scaling technique.”
