Pulpdent, a leading dental research, development and manufacturing company, donated Embrace Fluoride Varnish to Mil Milagros (A Thousand Miracles), a nonprofit organization founded in 2007 in Boston.

Mil Milagros partners with mothers, grandmothers, and teachers in Guatemala to prevent child malnutrition and hunger and to ensure that children graduate from sixth grade healthy, literate and prepared to continue their education. The organization works with schools to implement oral health care and hygiene and train community volunteers to provide oral hygiene instruction and apply fluoride varnish as part of its health and hygiene program.

“We are grateful to Pulpdent for partnering with us to provide our children with fluoride varnish. Most of our children never see a dentist. We have trained more than 50 indigenous Maya mothers and grandmother to apply Embrace Fluoride Varnish. The fluoride treatment, combined with our efforts to promote good oral hygiene through tooth brushing and clean water, will make a lasting difference on the health and well-being of these children and families,” said Margaret Blood, founder and executive director of Mil Milagros. “Partnerships with companies like Pulpdent are essential to achieving our goals.”

“Pulpdent has always been committed to helping people smile with confidence and lead healthier lives. Dental providers and manufacturers have the opportunity and responsibility to improve the lives of people throughout the world” said Fred Berk, vice president of Pulpdent. “We rely on organizations such as Mil Milagros to coordinate preventive care programs in underserved communities. Mil Milagros has done an exemplary job serving the needs of the children and families in rural areas of Guatemala. We are honored to work with them, and we commend them for their efforts and continued success.”
