ATLANTA – PracticeWorks, LLC, the exclusive maker of KODAK Dental Systems, announces one of their customers, Dr. Alec Elchahal, has been awarded the Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED certification offers third party verification that the building was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance such as energy savings, water efficiency, and CO2 emissions.

Located in Dacula, GA, Hamilton Mill Orthodontics is a 5,400 square-foot orthodontic office that uses state-of-the-art technology and design to offer their patients exceptional treatment and comfort. After a nine-month construction process, the new office opens June 1, 2010.

“Receiving the LEED certification was very important to us as we thought about how to design our new office,” said Dr. Elchahal, owner of Hamilton Mill Orthodontics, Johns Creek Orthodontics and Vickery Orthodontics. “There are
many opportunities to make an office environmentally friendly but we took the extra steps to get the certification knowing our patients would appreciate the difference.”

To adhere to LEED standards, Dr. Elchahal and his team selected practice management and digital imaging systems that are conservative with energy and resources. The office implemented KODAK ORTHOTRAC Practice Management
Software, switching them from paper to electronic charting. Selecting technology was also considered when purchasing imaging equipment. The office installed
the redesigned KODAK 8000C Digital Extraoral System, which offers lower radiation exposure to patients and also has a reduced footprint.

“We are excited to be a part of Dr. Elchahal’s new practice, offering great features to help his practice be more environmentally and patient friendly,” said Susan Whitt, orthodontic product line manager at PracticeWorks. “Our research and design team is constantly looking for ways to upgrade and improve digital imaging systems and practice management software to fit the needs of a busy
practice, further improving patient care.”
