As practice administrator for 25 years with Konikoff Dental Associates Inc., Pauline Heath loves that the field of dentistry is much more than just dentistry.
“It’s about building trust within teams, which then leads to creating special bonds and connections with patients,” she said. “I love listening to everyone’s energy in learning something valuable from every patient experience. It’s also fun to hear the passion in their voices with what they think is most important for the success of a company.”
Before a career in dentistry, Pauline had been a high school educator and counselor. Deciding to take a different “journey” in life, she still remembers the ad she responded to.
“It read, ‘Seeking individual that loves helping others enhance the quality of their lives; no dental experience necessary.’ Although I changed dental practices within the year, I was glad that I jumped at my new journey and have never regretted the decision.”
Currently, the company has seven locations and 250 employees including 29 dentists. Plans are in the making for future offices. Helping the expansion of the Virginia-based company owned by Dr. David Konikoff has had many exciting challenges and rewards.
“Each office develops its own personality at its own pace,” she said. “And having exceptionally talented people focus on making each and every patient and team member feel valued and special has been the ‘heart’ of our success.”
