The MyPerioHealth app will allow perio patients to keep track of their disease and to communicate with dental professionals on progress.
Oral care company OraPharma announced the launch of its MyPerioHealth™ app. This app is described as a patient education tool, and it provides patients a way of understanding different stages and grades or periodontal diseases. President and general manager of OraPharma, Dinesh Guglani, said that this app is a powerful tool in treatment planning.
“The MyPerioHealth™ education app was designed as a resource for dental professionals when using the Periodontal Staging and Grading Guidelines established by the American Academy of Periodontology to help encourage dialogue and offer an interactive oral health assessment in a patient friendly, portable way,” Guglani said in a press release from the company. “By responding to a series of short questions, a patient and their dental care professional can obtain a wealth of important information regarding the patient’s periodontal health status, including the stage and grade, which are vital for treatment planning and determining the maintenance interval to help manage the disease.”
Patients who have been diagnosed with periodontitis can use the app to gain a better understanding of their disease according to the press release. The app complements manual staging and grading through its data collection and automated calculations using the American Academy of Periodontology guidelines. Patients can interface with dental professionals to gain insight on gum disease.
The MyPerioHealth app can be used on a tablet or cell phone, with a web version available online. OraPharma is an oral care company of Bausch Health Companies, Inc., and hopes to improve patient health through the connection between oral care and overall health.
