The National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBC) announces the full launching of the home-based Modularization Program.
The National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBC) announces the full launching of the home-based Modularization Program. The NBC’s Modularization Program is a certificate program that allows dental technicians to verify their skills and knowledge in a specific area of dental restoration manufacturing. Candidates earn a Certificate of Competency in any of 12 modules within the 5 dental technology specialties: crown and bridge, ceramics, partial dentures, complete dentures and orthodontics. Each module represents a specific task area within a specialty. To earn a certificate, the technicians must pass written and practical exams as well as meet other criteria.
All of the exams may be taken at the candidate’s home lab. For the written exams, an independent proctor administers the exams at the candidate’s choice of location. For the practical exams, a dentist or current Certified Dental Technician (CDT) verifies that the candidate completed their own work before it is submitted by mail.
Technician Kelly Scherbinski of Davis Dental Laboratory, CDL. stated, “This gave me an opportunity to show my skills as a crown and bridge waxer. I am excited and looking forward to all the new changes that this industry is taking on.”
About NBC
The National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBC) was formed in 1955 as an independent certification organization dedicated to improving the quality of dental laboratory technology through voluntary testing and certification of dental laboratories and technicians.
