April is Oral Cancer Awareness Month, and Dental Products Report and Anastasia Turchetta, RDH, are on hand to discuss the link between oral sex and oral cancer.
As Anastasia mentions in the video below, the topic topic of oral sex shouldn't discourage dental professionals from discussing the topic with their patients, as ignorance on the connection between oral sex and oral cancer can be deadly.
"In some ways, many of us feel it's a taboo topic," Turchetta says. "But I feel that [if] the dentist or the hygienist...is going to discuss the risk factors for oral cancer, HPV is a risk factor, and...to me that's not taboo."
