This summit, which takes place on World Environment Day, will feature case studies, research, and more on the best ways to be sustainable in dental practices.
FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) has announced its virtual Summit on Sustainability in Dentistry, which will take place on World Environment Day on June 5th, 2023. This comes as the second phase of the group’s “Sustainability in Dentistry” initiative which has been ongoing for the past 2 years.
The summit will cover a variety of topics in a range of mediums, such as case studies, research projects, and even a virtual display of poster abstracts for attendees to peruse. A bursary fund has also been arranged for participants from low-income countries, according to a press release from FDI.
“The strides we have made through this initiative are truly commendable, particularly the development of the Consensus Statement on Environmentally Sustainable Oral Healthcare,” FDI President, Professor Ihsane Ben Yahya says in the press release. “I am excited to continue our journey towards sustainability to ensure a healthy future for our patients, our profession, and our planet.”
The Consensus Statement was created to provide clarity and guidelines on the environmental impact of dentistry and oral healthcare. FDI is supported by a variety of groups and companies that have all affirmed their dedication to this cause, including Dentsply Sirona, Haleon, Sunstar, Colgate, and SDI Limited. FDI will offer dental professionals educational resources to bolster their best sustainable practices.
The Sustainability in Dentistry Summit will take place June 5th, 2023. Registration is open now.
