DMG America has introduced a new workflow to enable the 3D printing of bleaching trays, aiming for more precision and efficiency.
In a step to streamline bleach tray manufacturing workflows, DMG America has introduced 3D printing to the process, cutting down what is said to be traditionally 6 six steps, all the way down to 4 steps using additive manufacturing. DMG’s has curated a specific suite of products–the DentaMile connect cloud design software, the DentaMile Desk MC-5 DLP 3D printer, the DentaMile Wash MC washing unit, the DentaMile Cure MC curing unit, and the LuxaPrint Ortho Flex biocompatible, light-curing 3D printing resin.
Clinicians can take advantage of this suite to introduce an efficient and precise bleaching tray process into daily dental practice, according to a press release from DMG. Now, they can import the case’s STL scan, use the software to design the bleaching tray, send the finished file to the 3D printer, and finally receive a printed, washed, and cured bleaching tray.
This workflow aims to provide 4 key benefits for clinicians––including efficiency, precision, comfort, and cost-effectiveness. It accomplishes these benefits through its process, by achieving a shortened series of steps, bleaching gel stability on the fabricated trays, digital scans instead of uncomfortable conventional impressions, and less labor and shipping costs, respectively.
