Dental Arts Laboratories, Inc. announced the arrival of the next evolution in zirconia … cubeX2 cubic zirconia.

The cubeX2 material combines the known positive properties of zirconia with a significant increase in translucency (49 percent translucency), reportedly making it ideal for anterior and posterior applications up to three-unit bridgework in all tooth positions.

Highly biocompatible and requiring only a feather-edge prep, cubeX2 is said to be the ideal restorative material for today’s dentistry, offering the translucency of a lithium disilicate while retaining the strength of zirconia (720 MPa’s).

In addition, cubeX2 requires less tooth preparation than is required for lithium disilicate. Ideally, an .8 mm chamfer or rounded shoulder prep is preferred; however, a feather-edge margin is acceptable. The required occlusal reduction is between 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm. The combination of precision milling technology along with the enhanced translucency and the resultant exceptional life-like esthetics of cubeX2 cubic zirconia make it the dominant restoration of choice for both anterior and posterior applications.

Clinicians no longer have to choose between traditional zirconia and lithium disilicate when cubeX2 does it all.

Additionally, cubeX2 Cubic Zirconia has been granted 510k compliance from the FDA and is now available through DAL's laboratory.
