So let's jump right into the details on these new innovations.

The ProMate EZ-Q hygiene handpiece from Pac-Dent is designed to enhance procedural efficiency and precision for dental hygienists. This advanced handpiece introduces a quick disconnect mechanism promising a seamless patient flow and simplification of sterilization procedures. Operating it up to 3000 revolutions per minute, the ProMate EZ-Q incorporates an innovative swivel head design, providing clinicians with a 360-degree range of motion for superior control. The handpiece also features a universal prophy angle connection, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of disposable prophy angle styles from a wide range of manufacturers. It's lube free motor reduces maintenance demand and contributes to the handpieces durability. It's crafted with a stainless steel exterior, so the ProMate EZ-Q is able to withstand autoclaving, which adds to its convenience and durability. c

Calling them the Dynamic Duo, Buffalo Dental Manufacturing is now bundling its V35 Electric Handpiece and the ThermoKnife to enhance dental laboratory workflows. This bundle is engineered to save time and money while optimizing bench space, particularly when detailing aligners. The handpiece offers speeds ranging from 14,000 to 35,000 rotations per minute, allowing for precise speed selection for various cutting needs. The high torque motor ensures smooth operation and robust performance reducing operator fatigue. The ThermoKnife is fast heating and the temperature control is fully adjustable for precise cutting action. A switch allows the use of two different thermal pens with ergonomic design and sharp permanent tips.

DEXIS recently introduced the ORTHOPANTOMOGRAPH OP 3D LX, it's the latest generation of its OP 3D series of cone beam imaging solutions. This advanced extraoral imaging system offers an expanded field of view of up to 15 by 20 centimeters. It seamlessly integrates with artificial intelligence-powered DTX Studio Clinic software, providing powerful tools for enhanced diagnosis and treatment planning. The improved patient positioning system and the Embedded Noise Reduction Technology ensure clean, crisp, artifact-free images. Additionally, the cloud connectivity of the OP 3D LX enables remote access, simplifying installation, maintenance and enhancing practice efficiency.

Finally, the Neoss Group recently unveiled the NeoScan 2000. Its latest version of an intraoral scanner is wireless, and it builds upon the success of its predecessor, the NeoScan 1000. The new scanner's wireless technology enhances mobility and makes it easier and more efficient to scan, even in challenging areas. The wireless connectivity works over long ranges and provides smooth data transfer. Scans can be stored in Neoss' free cloud solution for easier data management.

I'm your host for this week DPR Editorial Director Noah Levine, and on this week's podcast, we've got 8 new products to talk about from Neoss Group, Pac-Dent, Align Technology, Weave, Cocofloss, AirPay, and Henry Schein One. So without further ado, let's learn about these 8 new innovations.

In collaboration with Osstell, Neoss Group recently introduced NeoTell, an implant stability testing device. NeoTell uses resonance frequency analysis technology to swiftly and accurately assess implant stability. This affordable solution provides an objective stability score benefiting both clinicians and patients in making informed treatment decisions. NeoTell is user friendly and eliminates the need for invasive procedures, leading to improved patient outcomes. The device is compatible with SmartPegs which offer a convenient and sterile way to do stability testing which enhances the precision of treatment planning and contributes to heightened patient satisfaction.

Pac-Dent recently introduced an expansion to its Rodin product line with Rodin Bond, a versatile, light-cured dental adhesive that features cutting edge glass filler technology that deeply permeates dentin tubules, creating strong structural bonds. It is compatible with various dental materials including dentin, enamel, composites, zirconia, and metals. When used with Rodin Sensiguard, a 2-in-1 desensitizer and primer, it further enhances bonds and reduces sensitivity. Both products are designed for efficiency with a user friendly flipped up cap for precise dispensing.

Align Technology recently introduced a range of new updates to enhance their dental treatment planning software and other product offerings. One update for their ClinCheck software is a new plan editor which gives dentists the ability to easily edit treatment plans within the software. Changes made are quickly reflected in the treatment plan, allowing for real time adjustments to ensure the best possible care for patients. The new Align Oral Health Suite is an innovative software app that empowers clinicians to create custom oral health reports using Align's iTero Element series of intraoral scanners. Patients can gain a clearer understanding of their dental and oral health conditions through these easy to visualize reports. On the Invisalign aligners front, a new feature for SmartForce attachments reduces the need for double attachments. This enhancement improves the esthetics of aligners without compromising care quality. Finally, the new Vivera retainer subscription model is available. This is for non-first time patients and allows them to conveniently order retainers directly from their doctor, which eliminates the need for office visits.

Also new from Align Technology is the Invisalign Palatal Expander. This new 3D printed solution for palatal expansion and growing patients is unlike traditional metal expanders, in that it does not need any screws to be turned. The palatal expanders are crafted using a proprietary 3D printing formula to ensure rapid and safe expansion and a more comfortable process for young patients. It addresses hygiene concerns with its removable design, and when used in conjunction with Invisalign First aligners, it provides comprehensive early orthodontic solution. The Invisalign palatal expander is expected to enter the market officially in 2024, pending regulatory approval.

Weave recently introduced Practice Analytics to aid dental practices with data driven decision making advice. Compatible with Dentrix, Open Dental, and Eaglesoft practice management software platforms, the new feature builds upon Weave's existing message analytics and phone analytics capabilities, providing dental professionals with real time performance metrics on patient retention, appointment scheduling efficiency, treatment acceptance rates, and revenue generation. Practice Analytics also unveils unscheduled restorative or hygiene treatment plans, highlights cancellations, and reveals the average time between treatments. Additionally, it facilitates seamless patient communications through its mobile application. This robust analytics tool empowers dental practices to track missed opportunities related to patient care, patient volumes, revenue and resource utilization.

Cocofloss has launched Cocoshine, on innovative toothpaste with a nano-hydroxyapatite formula designed to tackle four essential tasks simultaneously. Cocoshine whitens teeth, addresses sensitivity, balances the oral microbiome, and strengthens enamel. The nano-hydroxyapatite formulation penetrates beneath the tooth surface to remineralize and fortify, repairing microcracks and enhancing whiteness. It addresses hypersensitivity by replenishing lost minerals and filling dentinal tubules. This oral care solution also contains key ingredients like xylitol, coconut oil, and aloe vera. It's free from sulfates, parabens, propylene glycol, triclosan, artificial dyes, and sweeteners. Cocoshine is cruelty free, vegan, and available in two flavors, delicious mint or lychee breeze.

AirPay recently introduced its new solution designed to simplify and automate the pre-appointment workflows for dental front desk teams. AirPay integrates seamlessly with popular practice management systems and performs bulk insurance eligibility checks, saving staff time and reducing claim denials and missed collections AirPay provides increased transparency regarding insurance plans and treatment costs helping patients understand the costs of proposed treatment.

Finally, Henry Schein One recently launched Lighthouse360+. Designed to seamlessly integrate with any practice management system, Lighthouse360+ offers simplified online patient scheduling, customizable digital forms that automate data intake and sync seamlessly with the practice management software. This helps reduce paper usage and saves time. The integrated phone system sends missed call text notifications to help attract new patients, while payment reminders streamline workflows and ensure timely payments to the office. Lighthouse360+ also offers reputation management, prompting regular patient reviews. Its user friendly dashboard makes it simple for office managers and front office staff to take advantage of the software capabilities.

Greater New York Dental Meeting 2023 – Interview with Edward Goldin, DDS

Hi, this is Dr. Ed Goldin. Just finished my lecture here at the Greater New York Dental Meeting at the Javits Center. And I spoke today on the MolecuLock connection of the Ditron Implant. And it's an implant I've been using for a few years now had some great results. We showed some nice single tooth cases all the way to full mouth reconstructions. And the nice thing about this MolecuLock connection is how well it it really seals the abutment to the implant. We've got less than a 1-micron gap there, which really helps maintain the crestal bone and the soft tissue. And in fact, even the first case I showed today really highlights how even with a high smile line, we get great soft tissue around a single tooth implant.

I've been here in New York practicing dentistry for quite a while I'm a third generation prosthodontist. Went to Columbia for my undergraduate dental school, then to NYU for my prosthodontic residency, and then did a 2-year implant fellowship at NYU under Dennis Tarnow. So I've been practicing here in Manhattan on 41st and Lex for 22 years now, as a third generation prosthodontist practice with my father for 11 years as well. We've got a full modern practice doing digital dentistry, using intraoral scanners, we've got multiple mills and 3D printers, 2 full-time lab technicians helping us out, so we're really able to provide the highest level of care and being able to do it with Ditron is great. The 2023 AAID Annual Conference - Interview with Allie Hogan of the Atlantic Implant Institute

Allie Hogan: My name is Allie Hogan. I'm with The Atlantic implant Institute in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We're here at AAID in Las Vegas. So far the show has been great. 

Yesterday Dr Hogan did hands-on for a full digital workflow, went through everything photogrammetry facial scanning.

A lot of the questions that we get about doing full arch full digital workflow is where to start. Maybe they have one piece of equipment and they want to get into going from analog to fully digital and they just don't know where to begin. So we answer those questions for them. We offer them to come to our classes at the Atlantic Implant Institute where we can teach them everything they need to bring back home to the office on Monday and hopefully go fully digital. At the Institute, we have courses that cater to all doctors, whether you're just starting you've done singles, you're just getting into the full arch game or if you're a veteran, maybe you need some new tips and tricks to bring back to your office. 

So we go through everything there we also have courses about business so if you know the full digital workflow, you know the implant placement, you know the restoration, but maybe you need some help on getting cases in the door or selling them. We're there to help you out.

At the 2023 AAID Annual Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, Dental Products Report sat down with Allie Hogan of the Atlantic Implant Institute to discuss what's happening in the world of implant dentistry. [1 minute]

The 2023 AAID Annual Conference - Interview with Edward Kusek, DDS

Dr Kusek: Hi, I'm Dr Eddie Kusek, president of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. I'm here at our annual meeting for 2023. And I'm just here to talk about the different areas that we could offer for education. We have a tier system of education, we have the Associate Fellow, which has a requirement of 300 hours of education, you have to pass a written test, and then there's an oral examination, then it expands to the Fellowship, which requires more [continuing education] CE for that, and then also another area of oral testing. And then the final one from the diplomate of oral implant technology. And the final stage is the diplomate of American Board of Oral Implantology. That requires more testing, oral testing presenting cases, in the all these tiers steps is to test the credentials of you to see the quality of your education, and to see if you really understand how implant dentistry affects both the surgical phase, the prosthetic phase, the restorative element.

So that as far as the education, what we test for is to see if you're trained correctly, for your implant knowledge, know how periodontally This affects the patient, the prosthetics affect the patient, maintenance, how to to maintain implant cases, for long term, all these things come to fruition to be a good Implant Dentist. So the meeting here for the 2023 meeting in Las Vegas, it is very upbeat, it's nice to see everybody here at the meeting in person is the only way to actually learn. You know, you can hear all the speakers and you can listen to them virtually. But then to be able to interact with your colleagues and ask questions about what are you doing on this and then they tell you something about that. And then you probably get into another area of implant dentistry or another part of dentistry and continuously goes on and on and on. So I see people here that I've been friends with for 20, over 20 years. And you know, we're always communicating with each other and it's like being back home. That's what makes it so much different from other organizations that I am a part of and have seen there, those organizations the camaraderie is second to none. Here at our annual meeting. 

What has the world got me excited about implant dentistry? Well, you know, like dentistry is totally changing what I learned when I graduated from school, it was totally changed. And God, you need to keep up on everything. Technology, it just keeps expanding people finding new ways to do things to make it simpler for the clinician, and better for the patient to get things more accelerated, because patients don't want to go through months, years times, to be able to get their prosthetics finished. And everything is on an accelerated pace. So you need to keep up with technology and what's going on it is just expanding. So so much. So you know, me as a clinician, you may think I'm in my golden years of being ready to retire, but I am still learning and I am motivated by the younger people that are showing all these things. And it's like, I've got to do this for my patients. And I'm mentoring some of the younger people too. And when I'm going out and doing surgeries and helping them with surgeries, we're doing this at the high tech level. 

So what is AAID doing in the future? Well, you know, what we experienced during COVID. And now we have the implant Institute, which we will have a number of courses online that you could watch anytime, any part of the day evening, and being able to get CPE credits for that and we have a number of clinicians that are in the top level of implant dentistry. So yes, this is going to be something very exciting. And also if you're an AIA member, you could go back pull off the information. And if your state is requiring to CE you could pull that off, print it out and then Senator your state so this is going to be extremely easy for all of our members in yeah if you want to join aitd you know, we are in the cutting edge of all this technology for you So what can coalition's look for in the upcoming year and 2024? Well, we have a number of regional meetings, we call it district meetings. There's no western district, we have a meeting, northeast and southern have a joint meeting together. And this is a smaller version of our larger meeting, where you may see 200. So clinicians there. Otherwise, there's a lot of young people speaking at these meetings, a lot of energy going on in these meetings. So a lot of cutting edge stuff that's going to be presented at that. So the annual meeting, our crown jewel meeting is November 13, through the 16th. So this is going to be one of the best meetings that we've ever produced. 

For AAID, we're getting all kinds of different speakers from around the US and around the world. And then also invite your auxilary is because we're going to have them come and we're going to have a lot of different courses for them to take to bring back to your office and it's going to be an A very exciting event. Dr. Bernie Dunson is by program chair and Bernie is always top notch and we are really looking forward to seeing everybody in Atlanta, Georgia, so hopefully you can make it there.

Dental Products Report took to Las Vegas to cover the 2023 AAID Annual Conference, where attendees and clinicians like Aman Bhullar, DMD, got a first look at all things new and innovative in implant dentistry. [4 minutes]

Dr Bhullar: Hi, my name is Dr Aman Bhullar and I am a diplomat of the American Board of Oral Implantology and a fellow with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. My practice is in San Jose, California, this meeting here in Las Vegas is great. 

We've got over 1400 participants. We've got the top vendors and the top exhibitors across the country, speakers and lecturers from across the world that are presenting the latest in implant dentistry. It's really important for doctors that are focused in implant dentistry and improving their skills, trying to attend a meeting like this because you've got the greatest the newest ideas and the newest innovations, and, and colleagues that are sharing their successes, their challenges or complications. So we can provide a better service to our public and our customers out there. It's incredibly exciting time to be an implant dentist. At this time, the digital evolution of dentistry and the and the impact that technology is having for us to provide predictable protocols for our patients. And outcomes are very, very exciting. 

Doctors that have been maybe shying away from doing some complex and integrated procedures. Now there's methods and options for these doctors to implement these procedures in their practice with predictability. And with confidence. Definitely, it's really important that as as health care providers and dentists and oral surgeons and prosthodontists, periodontists, that we keep updating our education and adding more skills into our practice. The AAID has options with their Maxi course programs across the world that allow a standard of education to be presented to doctors. The days of going to 1-weekend course and thinking you learn a lot and learn everything you need to learn about the complex field implants are no longer valid. 

There are great options with Max, of course, education and a continuum of education that's available in various cities across the world. We're launching a new program in Dallas. Real good options for doctors to stay current with what the latest and up to date procedures and protocols are in implant dentistry. I've been I was an early adopter in the photogrammetry field had been using photogrammetry since 2019 or so. Or we were using another competitor option for photogrammetry options in our practice. It's an essential tool in our practice on a daily basis for us to get predictable results for our patients. The technology and the accuracy ICam offers for our full arch processes in implant dentistry is is amazing, up to five microns of accuracy for our cases, gives me the confidence to have patients and restorations long term that are going to fit function and stand up to the day to day requirements for the patient long term. I mean for ICam it's we run an education institute 3d implant Institute, we have been able to partner up with a horse and ICam to be bringing these services to underserved communities in various parts of the world. And it really gives us the confidence so that after we leave and do our education programs with these hands on programs, doctors that they can, the practices there can continue to provide a solution to the patient. With an easy print within about 15 to 20 minutes, they can print and provide an economical solution to these people that may not be able to move into their Konya product or more expensive processes. 

The ICam technology and the digital workflows that we implement with printers and syringe re allow us to provide these solutions to patients that normally wouldn't be accessible for them. So we're very thankful for that partnership with 3D implant Institute for us with ICam SprintRay. It really allows the solutions to be available to people that would be otherwise not available to have these types of services. So makes a huge impact in people's lives.

The 2023 AAID Annual Conference - Interview with Erin Elliot, DDS

In this video, Dental Products Report provides coverage of the 2023 AAID Annual Conference in Las Vegas. The conference offers attendees and clinicians, such as Erin Elliot, an exclusive opportunity to explore the latest innovations and developments in the field of implant dentistry. Dr Elliot: Hey everybody, I'm Dr Erin Elliot, a general dentist that does implants up in Post Falls, Idaho, and I am here at AAID so that I can present on sleep apnea. So that we can help you screen and diagnose and treat your patients. You know, interestingly enough, when you look at the numbers, the amount of patients that have full arch prostheses have a high percentage of sleep apnea. 

In addition, when you look at the studies that show the prosthesis complications, most of them 13 out of 16, in one study had obstructive sleep apnea. So we need to be looking for the root cause, in addition to help protect all that investment that the patient just made, and the way to do so is to treat that main disease of obstructive sleep apnea. Dentists are the exact people that should come alongside sleep physicians in order to help identify these patients. We're in the trenches with them each and every day, we're looking at our ways, patients see us more often than their regular primary care physicians. We are the best positioned with our cone beam, just our communication skills, and the ability to even help treat them once they are discovered and diagnosed. I have to admit, this was my first AI D meeting. And I was pleasantly surprised to see just how many people are here that care about dentistry, that are pushing the envelope in our digital workflows and our workflows in general to help our patients which is really the whole reason we're here have better outcomes and better results. 

The thing that has me the most excited about dentistry is not just all the fancy toys and the cool technology that we get to work with. But the fact that it truly impacts our patients to make a better procedure. They don't seem as scared about dentistry anymore. And our patients are seeing their mouth, their health as more of an investment which we've I've never seen before in my patient population. I just want to thank AAID and its board and leadership in basically pushing dentistry forward so that we can help our patients that are in our chair each and every day, and we can help solve their problems.

Dr Rawal: Hi, I'm Dr Sanjay Rawal, Senior Vice President of Implant Support here at Aspen Dental. And I'm so thrilled because we've been spending a lot of time, effort, and energy over the last many years investing in robust implant education for the doctors we support. We've built an unbelievable continuum of learning that starts with didactic online coursework translates to in-person experiences, and ultimately live patient opportunities to actually learn to diagnose, treat, restore, and place dental implants, with all the innovations in the industry today, from guided surgery, to 3d printing, and everything that helps us do this. What's really awesome about what we're doing is we're also able to make an impact on those patients who need it the most. And a great example of this is our Oral Care Center for Excellence, built in Chicago, where we're able to deliver unbelievable implant related care to those that have been underserved and not had access to that care for many, many years. We're so thrilled because we're able to treat hundreds, if not 1000s of patients with the best implant therapies out there in the most innovative ways. Editorial Director Noah Levine, had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with Dr Adam Hogan, a notable figure in the field of implant dentistry, to discuss the event and the diverse array of offerings it brings to the dental community.

Dr Hogan: Hey I'm Dr Adam Hogan with the Atlantic implant Institute in Full Implant Choice.

I was here yesterday doing a full digital workshop for all-on-4 full arch immediate load fix treatment here at the AAID annual event and [we are] excited about implant dentistry and all the new innovations, all the new technology, it's just so exciting. It kind of keeps us young reinvigorates us, just the precision, the quickness to care, the ability to deliver care to more people. It's just super exciting. And then another thing is just the enthusiasm and the young doctors eyes, their eagerness to learn and discover new procedures and new ways of doing things. And I mean, I just I love bringing that to the new doctors and educating them and helping them on their on their journey. What are some of the key things that every doctor placing in place needs to be considering? How much time do we have? 

I have like days and days and days of content and all the things I would do doctor has to consider with implant dentistry. But you know, first and foremost, consider the people that you're treating, okay, delivering good quality care to those people. It's not about your implant number, your arch number, it's about making a difference in someone's life, and giving them the kind of care that hopefully will last a lifetime. And that's what every young doctor needs to take out of this education here at the AAID. Full arch dentistry is something that absolutely every doctor can attain in their practice, when they put in a little bit of work with the education and with the right products. It really revolves around digital workflow, which is what my workshop talked all about. It's impossible to deliver full arch care on a quality and with consistent levels of care in a timely manner. People doing full arch in an old analog workflow. Let's face it, it's just it's tedious. It's hard, they're gonna give up. I mean, I almost gave up. 

But the technological advances that make it more feasible for every doctor are amazing photogrammetry number one, just being able to take a quick scan and seconds, 30 seconds, 30 seconds max and be done with it, and know that it's accurate and repeatable. And that passive fit you get where you don't have restorations, braking, snapping emergencies that wake you up in the middle of night or on a Saturday bring you to the office. So photogrammetry number one, to facial scanning, being able to digitally plan a case to the face and be able to repeat it and just have it done in one just have your final set of teeth done. And one, the key frustration I hear from all doctors doing full arch is it just takes too much time. And it's so hard to make patients happy. And there's so many revisions, revisions is a dirty word you don't want them, you want to be done in one. And to do that you've got to have good facial scanning and proper eye cam photogrammetry. 

Yeah, I think that the public is becoming very aware of the possibility of full arch media care. Five years ago, I was inundated in my practice of full implant choice with patients messaging us just trolling us on the internet. This is impossible, you can't do this implants take two years. And now it's just common household names. You know, if all-on-4, you know, immediate teeth in a day people know about it. So they're searching it. I think that there's a lot of the public out there needing this care wanting this care. And so any doctor that wants to deliver it just really has to find out how to do it, take the education and put themselves out there and offer it and it'll be available. There's plenty of miles and arches to go around for everybody. The idea that this is this is a wonderful, absolutely wonderful event. I've been involved with the AAID since year one. My mentor Truman Baxter was a pioneer took the very first Maxi course placed implants since the hill Tatum days. So it's important to have a mentor. And you're not going to get a mentor without coming to an event like the AAID. You got the best mentors and all these hallways, the best education at the ad isn't on the main podium. It's not in my workshop. It's in these hallways where you can meet doctors, like myself, or hundreds of others here and get yourself a mentor that can carry you through this journey. And to AAID is great for credentialing. You owe it to yourself to get credentialed in the AAID so that you know that you you have a bona fide certified authority to provide this kind of care, but also the public knows that you do and the public can find you as a safe provider for their treatment. But our module one is fundamentals of full arch. We're going to teach you diagnosis and treatment planning of how to properly full arch. We've got full arch digital workflow how to be partially and fully digitally capable in all realms from iOS and facial scanning. So we we team with a number of providers around the country.
