30 dental professionals were awarded with the ADS-DANB-DALE Foundation Andrew Whitehead Education and Certification Scholarship to gain financial assistance in bolstering infection control.
Earlier in 2024, the Association for Dental Safety (ADS), which was previously known as the Organization for Safety, Asepsis, and Prevention (OSAP), along with the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and the DALE Foundation, came together to create a new scholarship. This scholarship, titled the ADS-DANB-DALE Foundation Andrew Whitehead Education and Certification Scholarship, was created to aid individuals in infection prevention and control, per a press release from ADS.
As infection prevention and control are so vital in dentistry, it can be debilitating to lack financial resources to ensure best practices. That’s why Andrew Whitehead and his family along with the aforementioned organizations came together to create this scholarship.
Recipients will receive the Dental Infection Prevention and Control Certificate. Their exam fees will be covered to become Certified in Dental Infection Prevention and Control or Dental Industry Specialist in Infection Prevention and Control Certified. Recipients will also be awarded 1 year of ADS membership if they are not already a member.
Recipients range from all across the dental practice, including hygienists and assistants. The 30 scholarship recipients are as follows: Michele Abraham, June Aoki, Jennifer Ashley, Crystal Bartlett, Quinesha Bonner, Teralyn Broussard, Jennifer Brozek, Rebekah Clark, Jennifer Colin, Jasmine Davis, Karina Dryden, Sara Ebe, Lyudmila Fedonchuk, Elsa Gamboa, Monica Gary, Jillian Godfrey, Aida Helena, Robin Keller, Tania Lassalle Rios, Ashely Logan, Hydeen Macey-Purnell, Sheyla Martinez Rivero, Rodney Matthews, Rebecca McFadden, Chana Mckenzie, Amanda McQueary, Sylvia Mendoza, Lauren Menkes, Donna Murray, and Nicole Musgrove.
