Planmeca USA announced the launch of the Planmeca Emerald S intraoral scanner, which is an enhanced version of the Planmeca Emerald.

Planmeca USA announced the launch of the Planmeca EmeraldTM S intraoral scanner on Oct. 1, which is an enhanced version of the Planmeca Emerald, the company said in a press release.

The Planmeca Emerald S is said to offer hyper-speed image capture two-and-a-half times faster than its predecessor and has the capability to capture full arch scans in less than two minutes. The scanner has the same lightweight, ergonomic design as the original Planmeca Emerald. This is intended to allow for greater efficiency for dentists and a more comfortable experience for patients during intraoral scanning, Planmeca said.

It gives clinicians  new Shade Assist technology, which makes the color-matching process easier with refined color conformity and takes the guessing out of shade matching, Planmeca USA said in the statement.

“Speeding up workflow while maintaining the precision of our first-generation product will provide practitioners with a best-in-breed tool,” Ed McDonough, president at Planmeca USA, said in the statement.

The Planmeca Emerald S comes with a five-year warranty, training, and customer support for no additional cost, Planmeca said in the statement. It is the lowest total cost of ownership in the market, the release added. Each scanner comes with customizable grip colors and is fully linked with other Planmeca devices and software.

Planmeca is the parent company of Planmeca USA, and is a leading manufacturer of dental imaging and CAD/CAM equipment based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Planmeca is one of the largest manufacturers in the dental industry and one of the largest companies in the dental equipment market.
