New Children's Book Aims To Encourage Healthy Oral Habits

Modern Hygienist contributor Lynne Slim, RDH, MS, is the author of a new children’s book, “Tales of Teddy Tooth.” With illustrations by Zoe Saunders, the new book aims to encourage children to care for their teeth through engaging stories and color illustrations.
“As a dental hygienist, I learned quickly that I was the channel through which my young patients would learn to explore their own mouths,” Slim states. “I started telling them stories about little characters who lived there, and they loved it. They would stare at me with eyes like saucers and listen closely as I would introduce safe and cuddly characters.”
The book follows the story of young Willow as her first teeth come in. She soon discovers that Teddy Tooth is hiding behind her new teeth. Readers will follow along as Teddy Tooth goes on adventures and explores his surroundings while sharing wisdom on caring for your teeth.
