After a busy year of traveling, Hu-Friedy's Nevi 4 will find itself on display in the National Museum of Dentistry. We've been following Nevi the Mascot throughout its travels throughout the U.S. as part of the "Host Nevi Tour." The tour advocated continuing education and included a special dental mission trip to Haiti where clinicians provided dental care to those affected by poverty and natural disasters.

Nevi will be on display for one year in the museum for visitors to view and learn about the “Host Nevi Tour 2011.” The tour, which began in January of 2011, entailed the Nevi 4 mascot traveling throughout the U.S.A. and visiting each state. For every state Nevi visited, Hu-Friedy donated $1,000 to a scholarship fund for practicing, registered dental hygienists to continue their education. The four scholarship winners will be announced in a formal press conference at the 2012 Yankee Dental Congress meeting in Boston, Massachusetts on January 27th, 2012. Each of the “Hu-Friedy Nevi Scholarship” winners will receive an award of $10,000 each to help pay for tuition and books at a school of their choice.
The museum’s display case features a montage of photos illustrating Nevi’s 2011 tour, giving visitors a glance at some of his many travels, including a special dental mission trip to Haiti where a group of dental clinicians performed goodwill dental care on those affected by poverty and recent natural disasters.
"The “Host Nevi Tour” initiative has far exceeded our expectations,” said Ken Serota, President, Hu-Friedy Manufacturing, LLC. “We created Nevi as a way to engage differently with our customers, and the level at which they have embraced Nevi is outstanding. Even more exciting is that at the end of this tour lies the opportunity to help advance the dental performance of our dental hygiene community through the Hu-Friedy Nevi Scholarship Program. We are honored to be part of the National Museum of Dentistry, and greatly thank the museum, Jon Landers (Executive Director, NMD) and Dr. Scott Swank (Curator, NMD) for their support of the Nevi program and Hu-Friedy. ”
Along with the announcement of the scholarship winners, Mr. Serota also shared that Hu-Friedy’s press conference at the Yankee Dental Congress meeting will include details of the “Host Nevi Tour 2012.”
