Earth Day comes around once each year on April 22 and provides an opportunity to support environmental protection. But it’s important to take steps year-round to actually make a difference.

Henry Schein, Inc has taken plenty of steps in the past to help keep the planet and its people healthy, and this year is no different.

The company is celebrating Earth Day by highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability within the health care industry. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day is celebrated in more than 190 countries globally. It aims to raise awareness about the environment and promote sustainability efforts to protect our planet for a healthier future.

“Henry Schein has a significant global presence, with operations in 33 countries and territories and 58 distribution and manufacturing facilities strategically located worldwide, serving over a million customers,” says Jennifer Kim Field, vice president, chief sustainability officer, Henry Schein, in a press release issued on Earth Day. “We acknowledge our environmental impact and are committed to managing it effectively as we strive to drive positive change throughout our global value chain. We’re confident that alongside our customers, Team Schein Members, and supplier partners, our collective commitment will bolster a healthier planet for healthier people.”

Implementing Carbon-Neutral Shipping

This initiative aligns with Henry Schein’s environmental focus areas of mitigating its impact on the climate, reducing landfill waste, and recycling and reusing valuable materials while practicing smart and efficient use of energy and water resources.

Providing Helpful Resources

Henry Schein developed a resource page to tell the stories of Team Schein Members from around the world, detailing how each individual embraces environmental sustainability.

This resource page also provides information on Practice Green™, Henry Schein’s global initiative designed to empower the broader health care community with ways to reduce their environmental footprint while providing high-quality patient care. Through Practice Green, the company aims to encourage communities to become more eco-friendly by providing solutions to support, educate, and enhance the environmental sustainability efforts of its customers and suppliers, according to the Henry Schein website. It offers customers and supplier partners with products, solutions, and resources to support their environmental sustainability efforts. The initiative continues to evolve with the ever-changing health care landscape, and was recently recognized by Ragan Communications, winning its “Global ESG Initiative” award.
