I can't let today (March 2), go by without wishing the departed Dr. Seuss a happy birthday. And, though my kids and I have plans to go see The Lorax in theaters tomorrow, I won't quote any of the lines from that memorable environmentalist tale. Instead, I would like to share my favorite line from one of the good doctor's lesser known books: The Tooth Book. "Clams have no teeth," says Pam the clam. "I cannot eat hot dogs or ham."

Instead, I would like to share my favorite line from one of the good doctor's lesser known books: The Tooth Book.

"No teeth at all, says Pam the clam. "I cannot eat roast leg of lamb. Or peanuts! Pizzas! Popcorn! SPAM! Not even huckleberry jam!"
A simple reminder that the value of a smile is so much more than just good esthetics. A healthy smile allows us to enjoy simple pleasures, such as the tasty treats eluding Pam the clam.
I encourage you to share The Tooth Book with your young children. It's never to early to develop the proper appreciation for a smile.
