A recent ABC Actions News story out of Tampa reports that a Florida man undergoing surgery to have three wisdom teeth extracted accidentally had his throat slit during the procedure.
According to reporter Jackie Calloway, the man’s first two wisdom teeth were removed successfully, but on the third wisdom tooth the dentist slipped and cut the man’s throat. Afterwards, the patient reported pain, swelling and weight loss.
As stated in the original report, the patient sought a refund for the $180 he paid for the procedure, but the dental office didn’t respond to his request. Additionally, the patient’s wife cancelled an upcoming appointment with the dentist due to the treatment her husband received and was charged a $25 cancellation fee.
Fortunately, the patient reached out to ABC Action News, who contacted the dental practice and secured a refund for the botched procedure and cancellation fee.
For detailed information about the man’s ordeal, watch the video segment below, which doesn’t illuminate why the man was having his third wisdom teeth extracted or how he chose the dentist performing the procedure.
