This partnership has produced brand new protocols for digital cleft treatment, including training tools and education to help patients worldwide.
Continuing their partnership together, Dentsply Sirona, FDI World Dental Federation, and Smile Train announced a brand new, first-ever global digital cleft treatment protocol. These standard protocols are said to improve cleft treatment on a global scale, according to a press release from Dentsply Sirona, and were designed based on extensive research and expert insight.
Protocols cover fields ranging from presurgical orthopedics, to mixed dentition, to permanent dentition, to oral rehabilitation.
“These protocols will help bring health and opportunity to countless children worldwide,” FDI President, Prof Ihsane Ben Yahya says in the press release. “It took an incredible amount of research and effort to put these workflows together. Thank you to everyone involved in this landmark achievement.”
There is also an interactive tool that is designed to display relevant information and details for dental professionals administering these care protocols. Paired with a clinical, digital cleft workflow education course, clinicians will be provided with all the resources they need to care for these patients, according to Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Sustainability at Dentsply Sirona, Erania Brackett.
“Together with Smile Train and FDI, we are working to advance the future of cleft care and go BEYOND for children with clefts worldwide,” Brackett says in the press release. “The launch of these new global protocols is an enormous step forward on that journey, integrating high-quality digital, more sustainable technologies and workflows into cleft care.”
