Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals announced the latest in its line of PreviDent products with the launch of PreviDent 5000 Boost Plus. The prescription-only home fluoride therapy toothpaste was launched at a Thursday morning press conference in Chicago.

Colgate’s Maria Elisa Carvajal, B.Sc., MBA, vice president and general manager, and Barbara Shearer, BDS, MDS, Ph.D, scientific affairs director were on hand to explain the product’s benefits and to answer questions from the attendees.

Carvajal explained how the first PreviDent gel product came about in 1985 and how Colgate has introduced a variety of new products along the way to help fight caries, including the new PreviDent 5000 Booster Plus paste which is designed to help high-risk caries patients.

The product features FluoriGard technology and tricalcium phosphate.

“The best patient for this is the high-caries risk patient and this is the most advanced product to treat those patients,” Shearer said.

New PreviDent® 5000 Booster Plus delivers unsurpassed remineralization

(Chicago Midwinter Meeting | 2013) – Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Colgate-Palmolive Company, introduces Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Booster Plus, the latest addition to the prescription-only PreviDent® home fluorides portfolio.

Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Booster Plus is ideal for high-risk caries patients as dental caries remains the most common chronic disease globally.

Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Booster Plus contains 1.1% sodium fluoride (5,000 ppm), FluoriGard technology and tricalcium phosphate.  The new formula with FluoriGard technology has been shown in in vitro pH cycling studies to provide better remineralization after 10 days and unsurpassed remineralization after 20 days versus 3M Clinpro® 5000 toothpaste.

FluoriGard technology is an optimized fluoride delivery system that produces a temporary shift in pH, a condition that favors remineralization and fluoride uptake in the oral cavity.  In vitro studies show Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Booster delivers an 86% improvement in enamel fluoride uptake versus the prior Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 booster formula.4

Similar to other products within the Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 portfolio, Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Booster Plus is a unique liquid gel formula that enables faster fluoride dispersion vs. paste-form prescription toothpaste.

“High level fluoride therapies are critical to patients at high risk for caries and new PreviDent 5000 Booster Plus liquid gel formula offers real advantages over traditional high fluoride toothpaste formulations,” said Dr. Barbara Shearer, BDS MDS PhD, Director of Scientific Affairs, Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals.  “Faster fluoride dispersion combined with the enhanced in vitro remineralization1 (and fluoride uptake) makes PreviDent 5000 Booster Plus a great asset in achieving a healthy smile.”

Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 prescription strength home fluoride liquid gel formulas are also available to help treat symptoms of specific oral care conditions:

  • Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Sensitive

  • Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Dry Mouth

  • Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Enamel Protect

Colgate® PreviDent® 5000 Booster Plus is currently available in 3.4 fl.oz. (100mL) bottles, in Spearmint and Fruitasticflavors.
