Cheryl Mora, DDS, MAGD will oversee the development, coordination, and execution of all educational and scientific programming for the organization.
The Chicago Dental Society (CDS) named Cheryl Mora, DDS, MAGD, as the organization's next director of scientific programs. Dr Mora assumed her new role on March 1 after Ted Borris, DDS stepped down from the post after 8 years.
Dr Mora will oversee the development, coordination, and execution of all high-quality educational and scientific programming for CDS, according to a press release from the organization. Dr Mora has previously managed the continuing education programs for the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry (ILAGD) for the past 20 years. She has also served as president of ILAGD, chair of the ILAGD Continuing Education Committee, and oversaw the Master Track Program, designed for doctors who want to receive a Mastership designation from the Academy.
“Continuing education is a critical part of our careers as dental professionals. It’s important to look at the ways these learning opportunities are offered and strive to provide a diverse array of content that can help individuals excel in all aspects of their career, as well as their personal life,” Dr Mora said, according to the press release. “I am thrilled to take on this role and look forward to creating new and exciting learning opportunities for our CDS members that will help them to grow as clinicians, business owners, and individuals.”
“Dr Mora understands the important role that education plays in helping the dental community continue to innovate and drive the profession forward,” said Dr Ted Borris, per CDS’ statement. “She and I also share the belief that experienced leaders play a critical role in mentoring and guiding early-career professionals to help them become the future leaders of the profession. I can’t think of anyone more qualified to take on this role, and I’m excited to see what she accomplishes in the years ahead.”
Dr Mora holds a Bachelor of Science and Nursing degree from Vanderbilt University and earned her dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. She previously ran 2 general dentistry practices in Vernon Hills, Illinois and in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
