The new app allows for quick, secure communication between dental professionals.
Carestream Dental has released its new Imaging Case and Collaboration (ICC) app, a platform that is designed to make sharing cases more secure and straightforward, the company announced in a press release. ICC connects general practitioners, specialists, lab technicians, and DSOs for closer collaboration.
ICC lets users upload all their important case images, including CBCT scans (DICOM), intraoral scans (STL), and JPGS. Treatment plans and images can be shared with colleagues and other oral healthcare professionals, such as third-party partners and labs. The platform’s Message tool lets users highlight and comment on specific areas of interest on an image.
“A GP may be concerned by a periapical lesion on a 3D scan and share it with their endodontist referral with a note on the area of interest,” Ed Shellard, DMD, chief dental officer, Carestream Dental, said. “The endodontist is then immediately notified and can quickly respond to the doctor’s concern.”
The ICC app is designed for security, allowing users to control access to files by granting or revoking access to cases for patient privacy and safety. Additionally, ICC is a cloud-based platform, so owners can reduce their reliance on server maintenance and back-up. All cloud data is managed offsite by Carestream Dental, with data encryption and storage said to meet all local, regional, and country policies to ensure compliance.
Plus, the platform compresses data loss at no cost before transfer and storage, which is said to reduce the file size and speed up transfers.
“If someone can share photos and tag a ‘friend’ on a social media sites, then they can use the ICC platform,” Shellard said. “Uploading photos and adding a message to a referral is just as quick and easy in the new app.”
The app can currently be accessed from a desktop and will soon be available for download on iOS devices. For more information, visit carestreamdental.com.
