In a new collaboration aimed at driving digital transformation in the dental industry, Carbon, a prominent product development and manufacturing technology company, has joined forces with industry leaders Heartland Dental and Desktop Health, along with Dr Robert Mongrain. The consortium's primary objective is to leverage their combined expertise to enhance patient outcomes through the development of streamlined workflows for digitally designed removable denture appliances, according to a press release from Carbon.

As the dental sector undergoes a historic digital transformation, this consortium aims to set higher standards in patient care through it. Notably, additive manufacturing is playing a pivotal role, enabling more efficient and predictable dental restorations for improved patient care, per the press release.

Terri Capriolo, Senior Vice President of Oral Health at Carbon, expressed enthusiasm in the press release about continuing the partnership with Heartland Dental and Desktop Health. The dental community partnership seeks to eliminate inefficiencies in current silo-based workflows, paving the way for fully validated, cross-organizational work streams. Dr Mongrain highlighted the significant opportunity to lead a process to organize and standardize the digital denture workflow for the industry. Leveraging their scale and collaborative capabilities with vendor partners, the initiative aims to support the development of consistent, scalable workflows that can be shared across the industry, benefiting Diamond Trusted Lab partners and the broader lab industry, per Dr Mongrain in the press release.
