Due to the latest public health recommendations regarding the spread of the Coronavirus, the California Dental Association announced the cancellation of their annual meeting, The Art and Science of Dentistry.
The meeting, held annually in Anaheim, was scheduled for May 14-16. The cancellation comes on the heels of California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s May 19 mandatory order that all state residents stay at home. The CDA’s decision was also informed by the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization guidelines of canceling gatherings of 50 or more people.
“The health and safety of our greater dental community is always CDA’s highest priority, and we did not make this decision lightly,’ a statement from the CDA read. “As a connector for the dental community, we endeavor to model common sense and sound judgment, taking guidance on COVID-19 from our internal experts and trusted authorities. We believe it’s important to start with the facts, communicate directly and each do our part to mitigate this global health issue.”
The CDA is offering online and audio learning opportunities at no cost for 90-days to help members and their dental team participate in CE. Audio recordings from the 2019 CDA convention will also be made available at no charge.
All registration fees will be refunded within 60 and no action is needed by registrants to received a full refund. For attendees who booked a hotel room through the CDA room block, the CDA will cancel reservations. Any attendees who did not book through this room block will have to contact their hotel directly.
Exhibitors will have the option of receiving a refund or have those fees credited towards San Francisco this fall or the 2021 show in Anaheim. Exhibitors must email the CDA to receive a refund.
The CDA’s convention in San Francisco this fall is still going ahead as planned. For more information, visit cda.org or cda.org/covid19.
