BioHorizons has launched SmartShape™ Healers, new anatomically shaped healing abutments designed for scannability, aiming to simplify clinical workflows. This development highlights the company's ongoing effort to enhance the efficiency of dental procedures, according to a press release from BioHorizons.

Key features of the SmartShape Healers include:

  • Innovative Design: Anatomically shaped with a scannable surface.
  • Esthetic Benefits: Site-specific configurations for better gingival contouring.
  • Efficiency: Streamlined components reduce chair time for restorations.
  • Flexibility: Compatible with both traditional and digital impression-taking methods.

"With the launch of SmartShape Healers, we’re further enhancing restorative workflow efficiency for our dental implant customers," said Steve Boggan, President and CEO of BioHorizons. “SmartShape Healers build on the success of our recent Tapered Pro Conical release, which is our first deep conical connection. These 2 innovations together create an exceptionally streamlined clinical workflow that helps ensure the highest levels of predictability for patients.”

The healers come with 6 anatomical profiles, a matte surface for scanning, and occlusal markings for orientation. Their all-metal design is said to guarantee seating verification, and a 4-step workflow makes tissue contouring consistent from healing to final restoration. Vulcan Custom Dental, a BioHorizons subsidiary, provides custom restorations designed to match the healers.
