  • “Makes cross contamination a non issue”

  • “A great addition to our standard of care in our practice”

  • “Patients appreciate the consideration of a disposable barrier in the aid of cross contamination”

Description

iBarrier is a single-use, touch-sensitive disposable tablet sleeve by Crosstex.

Packaging

The iBarrier comes with 100 disposable sleeves in a cardboard box with instructions for use.

Clinical indication

For the use in covering any tablet, such as an iPad, to prevent contamination after contact with any infectious materials.

Why do we need it?

Limited time and too many responsibilities can result in inadequate decontamination especially if a surface has edges or crevices and is difficult to disinfect. In such cases, barriers can be used to protect clinical surfaces against contamination. Barriers are generally made of plastic in the form of bags, wrap or tubing. Barriers are water resistant to prevent saliva or blood from leaking onto the protected surfaces. The iBarrier is recommended instead of using a surface disinfectant that could cause potential damage to the iPad or tablet.

The iBarrier for operatory use

  • Insert the iPad or tablet into the sleeve, with adhesive strip facing back of tablet

  • Remove the adhesive

  • Fold over and close the iBarrier for a seal-tight fit

  • Remember the iBarrier has given the iPad room for the operator to swipe the tablet to maneuver the applications

CPS evaluation

The cover of the iBarrier is “glove compatible” and smooth to not take away iPad function or detail of the presentation. Make sure the patient has a good hold of the iPad so it’s not dropped on the floor. The iBarrier provides a commonsense infectious disease barrier for the iPad to make its application in the operatory more practical. Patients appreciate the consideration of disposable barriers, and the easy to apply sleeve does not impact the function of the iPad. Each iBarrier is just pennies per patient. Patients love the integration of handheld technology chairside that they can hold and control. The iBarrier makes using the iPad in the operatory a worry free experience. Cross contamination becomes a NON-ISSUE because they are disposable after each patient.

CPS team gives iBarrier by Crosstex a 5 Diamonds rating.
