Q: What is the most frequent question or concern you hear from dental professionals about this category?

A: Stalling and Chatter. DENTSPLY Midwest® addressed these concerns by designing the first air driven handpiece to automatically adjust speed in response to load. Midwest solved two longstanding challenges with air-driven high-speed handpieces: load-based variations in speed that can cause stalling; bur deflection and chatter that occur at high speeds that can affect accuracy and precision.

Q:How does your company and your product specifically, seek to answer that question or meet that need?

A: The Midwest® Stylus™ ATC’s Speed Sensing Intelligence (SSI) automatically optimizes power for constant speed under load. Its Superior Turbine Suspension (STS) allows the handpiece to operate at constant speeds under load with no noticeable bur deflection or chatter. This provides the Dentist improved cutting performance.

Q:What about this product category do you think helps the dentist practice better clinical dentistry?

A: Dental Gurus have referred to Midwest Stylus ATC as one of the most meaningful technological advancements in air handpieces in recent years. Thousands of dental professionals have switched to it. Numerous publications and reviewers have said that it’s the best handpiece available. It is the highest rated and fastest growing handpiece in the nation.

In September 2010, Stylus ATC received an Excellent Rating and the Choice Seal from an independent non-profit dental education and product testing foundation. That top rating is followed by a 5-STAR rating from REALITY in July 2011 and was rated the #1 Air High-speed Handpiece for 2011 By REALITY. Reviewers stated, “Awesome torque’” and “Doesn’t stall when heavy pressure is applied.” In Q4 of 2011 The Dental Advisor awarded Midwest Stylus ATC 5 Pluses, Editor’s Choice and Top Innovative Equipment for 2012. Stylus ATC also made The Dental Advisor’s Preferred Products List in the High Speed Air Driven Category. Products clinically evaluated and highly rated by The Dental Advisor are considered to be some of the best products in today’s dental market.

Q:How is your company or product leading the way for innovation in this category?

A: Needs-Based Innovation! Midwest Stylus ATC and Midwest RDH Freedom are cutting edge products. Their designs show the continued integration of electronics and software controls with mechanical systems. Like all of us, dentists are consumers too, and part of the technology explosion. Dentist expectation is for technical advancements that make their job easier, efficient and precise. Midwest is positioned to provide those advancements as well as to provide the ergonomic attributes sought by dental professionals.
