The FDA approval greenlights health tech firm to introduce Adravision Perio product to dental practices.
Adravision, a leading global innovator in dental artificial intelligence (AI), recently announced the receipt of 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the commercialization of its Adravision Perio product within dental practices.
This FDA clearance guarantees dental practitioners and patients the reliability and compliance of Adravision's technology with regulatory standards. Established in 2021, Adravision is part of YCombinator's health technology portfolio and Georgia Tech’s Advanced Technology Development Center.
Adravision’s Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) employs real-time AI to aid dentists and hygienists in assessing mesial and distal bone levels in bitewing and periapical radiographs, as highlighted by Hamed Fesharaki (BDS), the company's CEO.
“Adravision’s AI-driven technology highlights bone loss with high accuracy, so it better facilitates diagnosis and treatment planning of periodontal disease, which affects more than 45% of U.S. adults,” Dr Fesharaki says in a press release.
Periodontitis, if untreated, can lead to tooth loss, impaired chewing, and has associations with heart disease and arthritis, among other health concerns. The American Academy of Periodontology estimates the untreated periodontal disease's cost to the U.S. economy at approximately $154 billion.
Adravision Perio not only enhances patient comprehension of oral issues, leading to increased treatment acceptance rates, but it also streamlines the claims process for insurers, reducing fraud.
"Our aim is to empower dentists and hygienists, equipping them to serve their patients more effectively and with heightened quality," Dr Fesharaki adds in the press release. “As a dentist, I recognize that this is the ultimate goal shared by every dental professional."
Adravision (adra.ai) represents an innovative platform that merges the expertise of scientists, dental practitioners, and AI professionals to revolutionize the interpretation of dental radiographs. The platform's robust Software as a Service (SaaS) tools are designed to empower dental practitioners to streamline their workflow, reduce time spent on interpretations and charting, ultimately delivering superior patient care.
