3Shape’s CAD solution for post and core procedures includes dedicated intraoral scanning with 3Shape TRIOS and CAD design workflows with Dental System™ 2013. 

The solution uses distinctive scanning capabilities, 3Shape Scan Posts and software tools to reliably capture and shape functional post and core designs, allowing users to save time by designing all of the layers in a single workflow.

3Shape’s patent-pending Scan Posts reportedly enable accurate capture of post and core restorations’ depths and positions, plus they are approved for in-clinic intraoral use and model scanning in the laboratory.  Also, the autoclavable Scan Posts are available in various sizes and shapes to accommodate drill systems from most major manufacturers.

Additionally, the solution may be used with TRIOS digital impression and scans of gypsum models, while a special dual-scan workflow using Scan Posts offers precise capture of the depth and position of the root canal.  If the input source is a gypsum model, technicians may simply insert Scan Posts into the model prior to scanning.
