Sirona Dental, Inc. recently unveiled the inLab MC X5 disc milling unit, a new milling option for dental laboratories. The inLab MC X5, a five-axis milling and grinding machine, is designed to process a variety of material discs and blocks while seamlessly switching between both wet and dry functions.

The inLab MC X5 automatically alternates from wet to dry processing of materials. The inLab MC X5 is engineered to offer lab technicians optimum flexibility throughout the entire production process, from start to finish, while creating esthetically pleasing restorations.

Real-time ROI: Increasing esthetics with Sirona inLab and Sirona Connect

The inLab MC X5 employs durable carbide cutters and diamond grinders for precise milling and grinding. The unit is equipped to handle all standardized discs with a diameter of 98.5 millimeters and a height of up to 30 millimeters. The inLab MC X5 also has disc management and extensive nesting functions that ensure efficient utilization of materials for minimal material waste. In addition, the functional design of the milling chamber is said to provide users with easy maintenance and a specially developed “easy-clean” design that makes the inLab MC X5 fast and easy to clean.

In addition to milling discs, a specially designed multi-block holder can be loaded with up to six different material blocks. The inLab MC X5 accommodates a number of indications for processing zirconium oxide, polymers, composites, wax, glass ceramics, hybrid ceramics and metals while supporting all of Sirona’s material partners including VITA Zahnfabrik, Ivoclar Vivadent, Dentsply, Merz Dental, 3M ESPE and more.

Step by step technique with the inLab system

The inLab MC X5 is an open production unit and is reportedly compatible with a wide variety of existing CAD/CAM equipment. It can be used in combination with Sirona’s inEos® X5 scanner and inLab software or with a number of scanners and components from other manufacturers. When used in combination with the inEos X5 scanner and inLab software, the new inLab MC X5 is the ideal milling solution amid a complete digital workflow environment.
