When we asked Dr. Payam Ataii, DMD, how the implementation of the iTero Digital Impression System in his Laguna Hills practice has changed his clinical process, he told us his team has been able to cut down a chair time scan of full mouth - upper, lower and bite to eight minutes. The system has also helped his team's crown delivery become more efficient with less remake and fit issues.

"One of the main benefits is viewing occlusion," said Dr. Ataii. "When doing these [types] of cases, I get to see where the patient's bite lands."
According to Dr. Ataii, dentists who are not currently using digital technology in their practices are using articulating paper, which is a way for clinicians and patients to see where the bite is.
"I do this digitally now," explained Dr. Ataii. "Not only before, but after and during the treatment so I can control that bite. Dentists using this system now are realizing that their treatment plans are a lot stronger."
Patient Benefits
Dr. Ataii said that from a chairside perspective, he can show the patients potential treatment results.
"For instance, when doing Invisalign, we get to actually show [the patient] an actual simulation of where his or her teeth are going to land."
