3Shape TRIOS scanner now features Digital Patient Monitoring. Debuted at CDS Midwinter.
Both Flemming Thorup, president and CEO, and Rune Fisker, VP Product Strategy, Business Unit Director, Dental Lab and Dental Clinic, were very excited to share plenty of 3Shape news at Thursday’s press conference at the 151st CDS Midwinter Meeting.
3Shape talked about a number of new innovations just released and others that are just around the corner. 3Shape creates 3D scanning and CAD/CAM software solutions and is a leader in intraoral scanners and software.
One of the things Fisker was most excited about was the patient monitoring capabilities now available. He also showed off the new Mobile TRIOS Cart with a battery option by dancing with the unplugged scanner and then having a colleague demonstrate a full intraoral scan of his own mouth in less than 15 seconds.
3Shape will be exhibiting at both CDS Midwinter and at Lab Day, where they will launch some new software and scanners.

“The systematic Digital Patient Monitoring (DPM) is a tool that will redefine intraoral scanning,” he said. “You’ll want to scan every patient every time to analyze and it will integrate with your practice management software.”
TRIOS, 3Shape’s intraoral scanner, will soon be used by dentists to do much more than just replace analog impression-taking. A new tool in the TRIOS intraoral scanner’s software called Digital Patient Monitoring (DPM) will enable doctors to monitor patient oral health ongoing.
Digital Patient Monitoring allows doctors to use the TRIOS digital color impressions to systematically monitor treatment and oral health over time.
DPM (Digital Patient Monitoring) compares TRIOS scans taken over time. Tracking and quantifying, i.e., gingival retraction, bruxism and teeth movement, and highlighting changes to the mouth that may require action on the computer screen. The Digital Patient Monitoring tool will be available as part of the TRIOS workflow.
DPM will be available as a TRIOS software update later in the year. For more information on 3Shape and other dental products, visit 3shape.com or dentalproductsreport.com.
