Why 3D?
With the right technology, the contemporary dental practice, whether general or specialty, has the opportunity to choose from a myriad of options for individualized patient care. Although the successful outcome of any procedure depends primarily on the practitioners’ skills, the depth of the information available at any given time is an important factor.
Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging provides the added dimension to quickly diagnose complex problems, to measure bone density, trace nerve canals, analyze bone structure, and view tooth orientation and proximity to adjacent teeth and vital structures.
With this precise data, the clinician has the ability to map an entire course of treatment from scan to plan to treat, with flexibility, control, and less radiation.
Why i-CAT® FLX?
i-CAT® FLX includes powerful and easy-to-use planning and treatment tools and the ability to customize scanning options for greater control of the field-of-view, dose and resolution.
SmartScan STUDIO™ has a touchscreen interface that allows the practitioner to select the appropriate scan for each patient at the lowest acceptable radiation dose, and the QuickScan+ feature produces full dentition 3D imaging at a dose lower than a 2D Panoramic x-ray.* Along with control over radiation dose, Visual iQuity™ technology provides i-CAT’s clearest 2D and 3D images.
i-CAT FLX also features i-Collimator that electronically adjusts the field-of-view to limit radiation only to the area of scanning interest, as well as i-PAN that captures traditional 2D panoramics.
Tx STUDIO™ software provides access to integrated treatment tools for implant planning, oral surgery, orthodontics, and other applications. This planning tool also helps clinicians to communicate their clear vision of treatment for greater patient acceptance and compliance.
“CBCT allows the clinician the ability to follow the patient’s progress in a comprehensive way,” said Dr. Daniel Cullum, DDS, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. “With the i-CAT FLX in particular, a quick, lower-dose exposure can be completed using adjustments in the scan size or resolution or both, especially important in cases where re-evaluation is critical.
This allows for better monitoring-with significantly less radiation-during the healing process, and early intervention, when indicated for optimal long-term prognosis.”
How it works
i-CAT FLX provides clinical tools across a spectrum of procedures:
Education
Imaging Sciences has created a continuing education program that has become a hallmark of the i-CAT brand. Besides thorough in-office training, further instruction is provided through the 3D Imaging Institute that is dedicated to helping dentists and specialists more effectively use cone beam technology.
The educators at the Institute have extensive 3D and i-CAT experience, and the curriculum is designed by dentists, for dentists. Other i-CAT continuing education opportunities include online tutorials, webinars, regional classes, custom onsite training, an annual users’ meeting, and the highly anticipated International Congress on 3D Dental Imaging.
