Successful endodontic treatment relies heavily on proper preparation of the access cavity. Sufficient, straight-line access to the root canal ensures all canals are properly exposed and adds to the predictability of endodontic treatment. It also enables the endodontic files to work smoothly and with less stress to the NiTi file.
Komet USA’s diamond-coated 15802 endodontic bur is used in tandem with the H269QGK tungsten-carbide bur to provide optimal, straight-line access to the root canal for rapid, effective lateral shaping of the canal entrance. The canal-preparation procedure is initiated with the ball-shaped 15802 bur, which quickly and efficiently penetrates enamel, thereby allowing the practitioner to readily advance to the pulp chamber. The procedure continues with the H269QGK bur to enlarge the pulp cavity. Both instruments run at an optimal speed of 80,000 rpm.
The 15802 endo bur facilitates quick penetration into deeper regions as well as simultaneous removal of overhanging dentin. The H269QGK bur permits controlled work in deep regions and features a safety tip to prevent inadvertent piercing of the pulp-chamber floor.

Clinical sequence
1. Use the ball-shaped 15802 bur to penetrate the enamel. With a tapered shape and lateral guidance, the diamond-coated bur is said to allow generous lateral substance removal.
2. Upon approaching the floor of the pulp chamber, change over to the H269QGK cross-cut bur. The safe-end tungsten-carbide bur is designed to minimize risks during preparation, even in close vicinity of the pulp chamber floor, and facilitates exposure of all root canals.
3. Radiographically hidden or undetected additional root canals can lead to endodontic failure. If the tooth structure indicates the presence of hidden canals, use the H1SML bur to create an isthmus and lower the instrument to detect concealed root canals. Engineered with a long, slim neck, the H1SML bur should be used with low pressure and without cooling. It works at an optimal speed of 1,500-2,000 rpm and is best used in conjunction with a surgical microscope or other magnification aids.
