A past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry who has been in practice for more than three decades, Dr. Dean Lodding has tried a number of different dental materials. In fact, he’s even tried a few cements between the first time he used BISCO’s DUO-LINK and today. After trying out some of those other products, he and his staff at Smile for Life Dental came back to DUO-LINK and are very glad they did so.
“We used DUO-LINK and really were quite satisfied, but we tried some others before we came back to DUO-LINK about a year and a half ago,” he said. “Now we realize how much superior and more consistent the product is.”
What benefits does DUO-LINK bring to your practice?
“One of the biggest things I like is to get a product that’s predictable, that’s not going to give you any problems,” Dr. Lodding said. “With DUO-LINK the patient’s not going to come back with issues, it works well clinically, it handles well, it’s a simple product to use and it works perfectly with universal adhesives. We switched away and then we were having just more issues than we ever had with DUO-LINK, including post-op sensitivity.
“We came back and all of a sudden it’s back to that predictability and ease of use, and another big thing is not having to deal with the issues of post-op sensitivity.”
What would you say are the main benefits for your patients?
“I’ve developed what we call a pain free protocol that we use in the office. Every point of contact that we have with the patient, whether it be anesthetic, how the front office deals with them, what we’re doing in the chair…every procedure we do we try and incorporate that point of contact as pain free as possible,” he said. “This fits that bill. This product is good, predictable and has few post-op complications. The patient won’t know that you’re using that product (DUO-LINK) but they’re loving it because they are not having any issues.”
Why would you recommend this product to other clinicians?
There’s a very minimal learning curve, Dr. Lodding said. BISCO is a family operation and the company provides instructional materials that are easy to understand. But there are other benefits as well.
“There are very easy steps, and cleanup is easy,” Dr. Lodding said. “It’s real important to have a product that can be cleaned easily and readily. But I’d also recommend this product because of ease of use, predictability, and it just works well and we have not had any issues with debonding of restorations coming off. It allows us to do things better and more efficiently. It’s a great fit.”
