We talk with Dr. Michael Pelke on 3M ESPE's Elipar S10 LED curing light.
How long have you been using the Elipar S10 LED Curing Light?
Since it has been out. We actually beta-tested it and from that 3-month beta test, we ended up buying three of them.
Why is it your curing light of choice?
Most of the feedback I get is from my assistants. They love the light and its portability. They like the feel of it. It’s very easy to hold, very light, very easy to use. We are a 15-operatory, 2-dentist practice. It’s a big office, fast-paced, so sometimes the light gets dropped. And it’s very durable.
It has high intensity, cures very quickly and it doesn’t get hot like other lights. The large tip covers the entire surface of the first molar. It can cure mesial and distal at the same time. You also can easily change the tip in about 3 seconds. It’s very convenient, very easy to clean.
Why would you recommend it to a colleague?
The No. 1 reason is easy-to-use, easy-to-understand features. You don’t need a programming manual or instruction book. It has a great pulse-cure that is great for working with a lot of the newer cements and bonded restorations.
I also would recommend it for durability, and I have gotten nothing but positive feedback from staff members who use it.
We have a number of other lights in our office, but the Elipar S10 is the one that gets picked up when people need the best light in the operatory.
It also has a long battery life. On occasions when it’s not on the charger, it still holds its charge. There’s no need to worry about it.
