Dr. Jeff Rohde on COVID-19's impact on dentistry

Article

Dental Products Report Editorial Advisory Board Member Dr. Jeff Rohde discusses what his practice has been experiencing during the first month of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as his thoughts on how the dental industry will be changed by the experience.

It's been more than a month since Dr. Jeff Rohde wound down operations at his Santa Barbara dental practice to see only emergency patients as the COVID-19 pandemic began to grip the United States. Now after having to lay off staff and look into federal bail out loans to keep his business going for the time being, Dr. Rohde finds himself as dedicated as ever to caring for patients and providing much-needed healthcare.

In this video conversation with Dental Products Report Editorial Director Noah Levine, Dr. Rohde shares his personal experience, explains what his days have looked like and why he feels it's critical for dental practices to remain open for the emergency cases that present themselves. He also discusses what infection control best practices might look like once the pandemic is in the rearview mirror as well as how clinical technologies might help make dental treatment less of a cross contamination risk.
