As the summer comes to a close, what is the company most excited about heading into the last part of the year?
SurgiTel has created a revolutionary new frame that flawlessly balances the weight of magnification lenses. We designed the new Aero frame to displace the weight of Galilean or prismatic telescopes from the nose around the circumference of the head. This allows for a more comfortable fitting frame when used in conjunction with a clip-on style headlight system. With this new design, we were able to maintain SurgiTel’s patented ergonomic designs to minimize head tilt angle.

What products or services can our readers look forward to in 2011?
With the constant evolving LED light and battery technologies, we are very excited about advances made on our  new LED designs using a patent pending multi-lens concept. We will introduce  the Micro LED headlight and high intensity Mini LED headlight that produce perfectly defined light beams, powerful light output and battery life of up to 8 hours. The Micro LED offers larger beam size than the high intensity Mini LED. The Micro LED is one of the lightest, and the high intensity Mini one of the brightest LED headlights in the market, but also has been designed to integrate perfectly with any of the SurgiTel TTL (through-the-lens), FLM (front-lens mount) or headband loupes. Users can choose either neutral white color or cool white color. The beam quality of these LED headlights is the best in the market.

What do you see as some of the strongest components of your customer service efforts?
As a private USA company, we are extremely focused on providing our customers with the best customer care. We are able to provide fast service and exchanges that foreign manufactures have difficulty providing.

What do you see as some of the primary needs of today’s dentists, and how does your product help meet those needs?
With loupes considered by most clinicians as the most important piece of equipment in their practice, we are constantly striving to provide the most comfortable means of wearing our products all day long. Through our exclusive partnership with Oakley we have the largest selection of frames that fit the faces of many different people and can support the daily use of magnification. SurgiTel’s MicroLine of lightweight loupes allow users to wear loupes all day without having discomfort.

What is something readers would be surprised to know about your company?
SurgiTel is located in Ann Arbor, Mich., and was founded in 1992 as a branch of General Scientific Corp. With a history in optics extending back to the 1930s, SurgiTel is the first optical equipment company to develop products for medical and dental specialists that focus not only on vision but also on ergonomics.
