Coltene/Whaledent Inc., the North American division of Global Dental Manufacturer COLTENE Holding AG, recently released three new products to assist dental professionals in improving their practice, procedures and treatment outcome.
These include:
Coltene’s COMPONEER reportedly is a new and easy-to-use system for restoring anterior teeth. COMPONEER are polymerized, prefabricated nano-hybrid-composite enamel shells that are said to combine the advantages of direct composite restoration with those of prefabricated veneers. The extremely thin veneer coatings from 0.3 mm reportedly allow a high level of conservation of hard tooth substance during preparation, and the shiny and naturally designed surface is said to add a look of vitality to the restoration. In present practice, the treating dentist can chose between a directly modeled composite restoration or elaborate indirect veneer technology.
Coltene’s HyFlex®CM™(controlled memory) rotary files reportedly are manufactured utilizing a unique process that controls the material’s memory, making the files extremely flexible, without the shape memory of other Ni-Ti files. This makes the file follow the canal without creating undesired lateral forces on the canal walls, substantially reducing the risk of file separation and complications such as ledging, transportation and perforation. The HyFlex®CM™ file is said to be very safe-it is up to 300 percent more resistant to cyclical fatigue compared to standard Ni-Ti files (data on file), reducing the incidence of file separation. Clinicians will be able to reuse HyFlex®CM™ files because the shape of bent files or with straightened spirals is restored during autoclaving.
