CDA 2012: Video interview with 3M ESPE about the new Retraction Capsule

"The retraction capsule is an innovative product that will now allow dentists to use a retraction paste to do general retraction," said Poindexter. "The retraction capsule features an ultra-fine tip that fits right into the sulcus for paste application."

Compared to retraction cord, the system can reportedly cut up to half the time from gingival retraction procedures, and is up to 30% faster than retraction paste while deflecting marginal gingiva and providing long-lasting hemostasis.

The CDA Presents The Art and Science of Dentistry is ongoing through Saturday, May 5, and features 600 exhibiting companies and more than 140 new products.

The bi-annual CDA convention drew more than 27,000 dentists, dental professionals and students from across the U.S. The three-day convention will feature educational courses and 135,000 square feet of exhibit space where 568 exhibitors demonstrated new techniques as well as innovative products and services for dentists.
