Dental technology has developed at a breathtaking speed over the past five years. New high-production technologies have been brought onto the market that involve considerable capital investment.

But time- and labor-saving devices also come in small, cost-effective packages. A processing unit from Europe, where cold-cure is 70% of the market, has been introduced in the United States by Swiss denture specialist Candulor AG. The PolyMaster cold-cure denture device was developed and designed by dental technicians to precisely meet the needs of today’s dental laboratories. This device saves processing time, therefore saving cost. Its simple design and use eases the investing of models, making for gentler handling, while the precision closure and open investment process produces no acrylic flash, eliminating the risk of raised bites.

Following are steps to create a full denture using the PolyMaster cold-cure denture processor.

01 Invest the final setup with silicone, exposing the incisal edges of the teeth through the silicone investment. Fit with retentions and undercut the edges.

02 Isolate the cover and the bottom section of the PolyMaster with silicone spray to facilitate deflasking later. Then, position the magnetic retention plate on the magnet in the PolyMaster cover (Fig. A).

03 Mix the plaster under vacuum and fill without vibration up to the model or up to about 1 cm below the top edge (Fig. B).

04 Invest the waxed-up denture with the silicone, key side up, to the edge of the model in the plaster layering (Fig. C).

05 Apply impression or articulating plaster to the PolyMaster cover (Fig. D).

06 Apply impression or articulating plaster to attach the model, then screw the PolyMaster cover tight (Fig. E).

07 Once the plaster has fully hardened, remove the model from the form. The wax then is removed from the model and the teeth (Fig. F).

08 Isolate the water-saturated model, reposition the roughened teeth, and moisten with monomer (Fig. G).

09 Pour the mixed Aesthetic Autopolymerisat into the silicone key, the gingivobuccal fold, and the palate of the model (Fig. H).

10 When the acrylic takes on a viscous consistency, carefully close the PolyMaster and tighten with the Allen screws. Polymerize in the pressure pot for 15 minutes at 40°C and 2-bar pressure (Fig. I).

Figs. J, K, and L show the final results obtained with the PolyMaster.
