Casio Exilim S10
$212 - $330

Not long ago having the latest features in a high-resolution camera meant paying heavy dollars and carrying even heavier camera bags. Today, that has changed with the introduction of thin digital cameras.

Few lineups can compare to Casio’s ultra-exciting Exilim series. Ranging from 8.1 to 10.1 megapixels, these cameras reach photo qualities unobtainable just a few years earlier in digital cameras of almost any size or price.

Shooting star

The star among the Exilim lineup is the S10, which boasts the title of being the world’s smallest 10.1-megapixel camera. Dubbed “the Card,” the S10 weighs a little more than 4 ounces and measures a touch more than a ½-inch thick—smaller overall than most wallets. This ready-to-travel-sized “point and shoot” makes the S10 easy to bring along.

Feature play list

What makes the S10 even more amazing is the long list of features not easily found in cameras twice its size (or price, for that matter). Sure, it has all the typical bells and whistles you expect to find in a digital camera these days, but it also has many unexpected features.

Consider the innovative facial and gesture recognition technology that can pick out and focus on family members amongst a crowd of others, or can take a picture automatically at the first crack of your subject’s smile. There’s even a self-portrait preset Best Shot scene that automatically snaps the shutter only when you, or you and a friend, are focused in the scene. In total, there are 36 Best Shot scenes that automatically adjust the S10 to take optimal photographs in a wide variety of settings.

A nighttime shot mode, for instance, automatically changes the shutter speed, while a setting to photograph a cluttered dry erase board automatically improves contrast, reduces glare and compensates for odd angulations. Add to it all, one-button, 30 frames per second, video recordings formatted for YouTube or iTunes, and you’ve got a class-leading, all-around performer.

Stage Performance

Such features may be difficult to find and use on most cameras; but with the S10, everything is made easy, thanks to its simple layout with a few well-placed controls. Six buttons in one main grouping adorn the S10 backside, all of which offer easy, one-finger access while holding the camera in the shooting position. Pictures and a plethora of menu options are viewed on its 2.7-inch LCD display.

It’s easy to overlook the absence of an eyepiece for viewing without the display, but all other important items are fully present, including an AV cable for viewing pictures and movies on an external display.

A high-speed USB cable also is included as well as a battery charging cradle. The battery reaches full potency in just three hours and powers the camera to shoot 280 pictures or 120 minutes of video. You will need to supply a SDHC memory card, available up to 32 GB, to augment the 11.8 MB of onboard memory.

The new Casio Exilim S10 is fantastically well-rounded with exceptional 10.1-megapixel image quality. Its full list of features make using it for business and/or pleasure fun and easy while its overall dimensions make keeping it with you a breeze. Try an Exilim S10 by Casio today and start taking your camera and pictures wherever you go.
